Developer says Apple rejected update for not forcing auto-billing on users

70% of something is better than 100% of nothing.
whiners. It’s not only an anti competitive move but very clearly anti consumer and I’d argue in come countries potentially illegal. I’m glad the developer stood up to Apple on this one.
Apple created this market that developers have access to. Not the other way around.
keep whining.
Yes Apple provides a platform, but it’s financial reports clearly show it’s not at a loss to them. Also it has been highlighted recently they do not treat all companies equally. -
Developer says Apple rejected update for not forcing auto-billing on users
elijahg said:I realise this is an Apple fan site, but it's absurd how many people here blindly defend Apple no matter what they do. Apple is always right, apparently, even in cases where they've lost multiple lawsuits on the same subject or had to compensate people, they're still right. Every time. Always. Apparently.
We all love Apple here, and we all want Apple to be successful. But that success doesn't mean they should be free to stomp on us the users, or developers, or their own staff because Cook wants to make a few more million dollars to put in the bank to add to their existing billions they don't know what to do with. Criticism of Apple doesn't make you a "hater", it is is usually aimed ultimately to improve the product on offer. Remember Apple is a business, and they're there to make as much money as they can from users. If you're one of the several here that blindly defend Apple, take a step back and look at the bigger picture: it's the trillion dollar Apple vs a lowly developer who's in all likelihood relying on Apple's latest check to put food on the table for his family. Who does that couple of percent make a bigger difference to?I suspect a few own Apple shares so it’s in their vested personal financial interests to drive up that share price and defend Apple no matter what. -

"Purchasing through our website avoids commission fees commonly charged by Apple or Google," says the site, "and will usually get you the best price!"
There it is, right out in the open.
Sorry but I find your statement to be incorrect, this article and the tweet clearly stated the unfair customer treatment, NOT developer treatment, for a trial of the app. What’s next? Apple forcing minimum 12 month subscriptions with no refund? It’s quite obvious if this story is true Apple is putting its greed first and foremost, not the customer, and the last time I checked it was making a pretty few billion in profit from the App Store alone every quarter, so I think it’s more then covering the cost of any ‘services’ it’s supplying. It should be up to the developer how it wants to offer free trials of its software, as this sets the impression of the company, to be forced by Apple to be seen as the typical greedy one who wants all your payment details up front is disgraceful I find. The part about telling your customer to bypass the App Store you, is part of the now multiple on going anti competition investigations into Aplles App Store practices, we shall await the outcome of those. -
Apple again rumored to drop charger and earbuds for 'iPhone 12'
GeorgeBMac said:Apple needs to UP its game with chargers -- not run away and hide.Yeh, many people have a bunch of the crappy 5W chargers Apple has been foisting on them -- even though every phone since the iPhone8 has been able to handle fast charging from a 30Watt brick.Apple needs to supply quality chargers. They are as much a part of the phone as the screen. Without the brick, not even a wireless pad will charge the phone. But, one thing they might do is give the user the option of a USB-A or USB-C brick & cord -- partly because the USB-A connection restricts the power it can provide and is being replaced by USB-C in a number of areas such as MacBooks.if this rumour is true then I’d expect Apple to reduce the price of its iPhones, but we all now they won’t as this is Apple.I support the cutback of electronic waste, but I also think they should include a lightning to normal headphone jack adapter in every box, not everyone uses wireless headphones. And they should reduce the phones price or give customers a free of charge option for a charger, a better one then 5W. -
Apple European executive defends App Store policies amid antitrust scrutiny
tundraboy said:Antitrust enforcement against a product, i.e. the iPhone, that aside from not being a monopoly in any country, competes in an industry that is among the most brutally competitive.
This is punishing a company for selling a product that succeeds because consumers like it, not because they have no other choice. That's not how we get the free enterprise system to work to society's benefit.
If these people are really concerned about antitrust, there's work to be done on Google, Amazon, and Facebook. Now those companies have true monopoly power and are wielding it shamelessly and destructively at every turn.
