  • Developer says Apple rejected update for not forcing auto-billing on users

I’m absolutely with the developer here, on this issue.
And I’m firmly in the Apple camp.  Apple is the one doing all the work obtaining and keeping its large base of customers willing to pay for apps.  If 30% is too high given what Apple does they’re more than happy to go to the Android camp, where they probably make zero money.

70% of something is better than 100% of nothing.

    whiners.
I bet you own Apple shares. Never on the side of the customer, and this developer never stated they don’t want to give Apple its cut, their complaint is clearly over Apple forcing them to take money from the apps customers, basically here’s a free trial, enter all your payment details and we will charge you if you don’t cancel, it’s a dirty trick purely designed to milk money from the customer, putting the giant corporation Frits and foremost and the customer a very far behind lonely second.
It’s not only an anti competitive move but very clearly anti consumer and I’d argue in come countries potentially illegal. I’m glad the developer stood up to Apple on this one.

  • 10.8-inch, 8.5-inch iPads will have 20W charger, iPhone 12 won't, says Ming-Chi Kuo

Ok I’m going to step back a moment, I can understand the viewpoint this would save on electronic waste, however I’ve never known anyone to throw away a charger, mind you it would help if companies like Music Magpie here in the U.K. required you to send your charger and box to them, but they don’t want them and only require the phone thus you end up potentially with a charger and no phone, at least it’s USB.
some have been blaming the new EU rules requiring every device be USB charged, that seems to ignore the fact all iPhones are, maybe it has a lightning socket but it’s always used a USB plug on the other end. So I’m not sure that argument stands.

The issue is, if this is true then Apple must reduce the cost of the iPhone to suite or offer an optional charger for free. But knowing Apple they won’t do either of these and will become a joke offering a 1000 dollar or pounds phone with no charger, that costs extra..

We shall see though. Lots of fans seem pretty upset over this though.

  • Apple unveils plans to ditch Intel chips in Macs for 'Apple Silicon'

I really appreciated Apples note at the end explaining the precautions it took due to the virus, because I was wondering although it’s slick and the best WWDC keynote ever IMO, did you all really need to go to the Apple campus to make this? So that won some browny points with me.

Trouble I have, is I want a new main computer soon, this year or next, and thus do you buy an end of the era Intel Mac with most of the bugs ironed out? Go mad even and buy a Mac Pro with the hope it’ll last 15 or 20 years? Or do you get a new Apple Silicone Mac with unproven design that no doubt will have issues as most Apple first generation products seem to.
    Tricky proposition I think.

If the road this ends up going down means the same apps on a Mac are the same apps on an iPad, then surely Apples PC market share is going to shrink even further, everyone will just buy a much cheaper iPad.

I’m not questioning Apples silicone prowess here, I’m questioning if developers will follow them down the path.

No word on Windows support? That's gonna be a deal breaker for some.

Why do people think that whenever something new comes out, everything old just stops working. Those people can just buy an Intel Mac, which will still be supported for years. If there aren’t any new ones sold, they can always buy a used one cheaper.

Apples idea of years seems to be 5. Yes it’s correct as it’s ‘years’, but I don’t know many people who buy new Macs every 5 years.
