  • Epic Games argues Apple has app monopoly, should make iOS more like macOS

I have to say I don't doubt any of the figures Epic quote in its opening statement, however as huge profits are made from in app purchases, cleverly designed in a way that makes them almost a requirement, then I have little sympathy for them or Apple in this case. Apple does have a monopoly yes, but all everyone seems to want is more money, theirs no morale principle behind any of this, just good old classic greed on both aides. You can argue pros and cons for each sides aspects, but it really is just about greed being obtained from each other's work. Gotta keep those share holders happy after all.

  • Apple sued over iPhone warranty issues and water resistance claims

These water resistant levels are designed to survive what happens to phones, rain, spilt liquids over them like alcohol or water and being dropped in the toilet or bath. If Apple is refusing warranty claims for these accidents then it’s a clear breach of advertising standards and is deliberately misleading consumers, hence the Italian fine. Because any of these accidents are well within the ‘claimed’ water resistance level the Apple advertises the iPhones as having.
if you bought an expensive watch that was advertised as water resistant to 100 meters, and spilt a glass of water on it and it got inside the watch, but the maker refused to repair it u dear warranty your claim false advertising and the company misleading consumers.

We need all the facts of what warranties Apple is refusing, but looking at the Italian fine I’d say Apple is becoming quite the bad company for legitimate warranty claims, some would argue driven to drive more sales and profit, like battery gate as it was Apples very own in store diagnostics software that told people their was nothing wrong with their batteries, leading sales staff to promote new iPhone sales instead of a simple repair.

  • The critics were impossibly wrong: Apple CEO Tim Cook was -- and is -- the right person fo...

Tim Cook deserves a lot of praise. From a customer standpoint, Apple has reliably delivered the products it promised even during the chip shortage. Apple rarely overpromises on its products capabilities. I do wish that Apple took more risks, although perhaps not at the "bet the company" level of Steve Jobs. Apple has the opportunity to disrupt the entire computer industry with the M1 and M2 processors but to do that they would have to draw far outside the lines. Steve would have created a Mac Nano by now costing around $300 with a M1 processor. It would have turned the industry upside down as the Windows world has literally nothing to compete with that. In other areas, such as VR, Apple is far behind the rest of the industry. Perhaps their AR glasses will redefine the market the way the iPhone did.
Battery gate was under Cooks watch, misleading millions to falsely buy new iPhones when they only needed battery changes. So far he’s failed to deliver for customers in some major many regards.

Cook is loved because he generates masses of profit, and whilst he does that the city and share holders will love him, they couldn’t care less about anything else he does like ignore human rights in foreign lands to mass produce products cheaply, their is no conscious when it comes to money and power. Personally I don’t like him, he’s awful to watch in the presentations. Steve was a great presenter and knew how to convincingly talk about a product passionately, Craig’s good also as he has a sense of humour and brings it out in stage, but Cook no, he’s just annoying and comes across as the arrogant man he most likely is.

Oh and I would not state the ‘iPhone’ was the it’s successful consumer electronics device of all time, I would claim the mobile phone was, also wasn’t it the massive success that saved Apple from bankruptcy under Steve Jobs? An awful lot of things under Cook have not gone well.

  • European Commission says Apple is in breach of EU competition law

Haha not surprised in the slightest, it was obvious they would find Apple guilty because Apple has breached their regulations and laws, it is the job of any company to know and understand the laws and regulations of your select market no matter the size.
What will be interesting is the penalty that will be imposed, the EU will hit hard if required in any company with penalties, I suspect they will force Apple to change its store policy in Europe. Spotify did have a point too over this though and the heat was obviously building up against Apple, need to share the wealth fairly.
