  • Trump's 25% smartphone tariff starts just in time for the iPhone 17

  • Apple's 2025 Pride Collection features a unique Apple Watch Sport Band

Why anyone would choose an analogue-style watch face on a digital watch is beyond me.  Other than that, a really nice combo.
I prefer classic mechanical watches, period. I only own an AW because I bought it for a family member, long story there but it ended up on my wrist instead.

it’s ok but I’ll take a nice Breitling or Panerai over it any day of the week. I don’t need my watch to constantly alert me to shit.

It disgusts me that this is what business leaders in this country now have to do. Kiss the ring of a clueless wannabe dictator. I do not fault Tim. He is only doing what he needs to do in the best interest of Apple.
This is what fascism looks like.

Politics aside - having geographic distribution of chip production is essential as to not have a freak natural disaster kick us back into the Stone Age if most chips are manufactured in one small location.
Very true! Taiwan sits on the "ring of fire" and is vulnerable to earthquakes and tsunamis. All else equal, not an ideal location for multi-billion dollar fabs.
TSMC's factories in Taiwan can withstand an 8.0 earthquake and remain operational. Their fabs are also 60 feet above ground level and are sealed and incorporate pumping systems. So they've thought about that.
    So 8.1 and they’re toast.

And what good is a fab with no electricity and surrounded by rubble?

so TSMC should have done nothing at all about quake-proofing their facilities because perfect or nothing, got it.

I am trying to imagine the response if Apple's profit had dropped by 71% and Tim Cook got on the call to say he was going to cut back his extracurricular activities that were alienating Apple's customer base to only two days a week. I mean, Chief Executive Officer is a part-time job, right?
    What extracurricular activities?
I'm fairly certain this was a reference to the Muskrat... Tim Apple is not doing anything comparable to giving "Roman salutes", promoting far-right German political parties, stealing our private data from the Social Security Administration, prancing about with a chainsaw at a Trump rally, tossing the worldwide scientific and academic leadership of the United States on a bonfire to own the libs and fund even more tax cuts for the wealthy, driving down whatever goodwill may still be associated with the Tesla brand into the sewer, spending waaaaay too much time high on Vitamin K while "running his companies" and simultaneously playing MMP online games long enough to allegedly be among the world's best players... it's beyond me how those long TSLA aren't already suing the company for tolerating this gross mismanagement. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that it's a cult as well.
