Epic CEO Tim Sweeney grilled on platform agreements, V-Bucks
photography guy said:Sweeney Todd did not prepare well for his testimony. He looks totally out of his element, and his answers sound like he just woke up 5 minutes ago after a night of heavy partying. -
The critics were impossibly wrong: Apple CEO Tim Cook was -- and is -- the right person fo...
OutdoorAppDeveloper said:Tim Cook deserves a lot of praise. From a customer standpoint, Apple has reliably delivered the products it promised even during the chip shortage. Apple rarely overpromises on its products capabilities. I do wish that Apple took more risks, although perhaps not at the "bet the company" level of Steve Jobs. Apple has the opportunity to disrupt the entire computer industry with the M1 and M2 processors but to do that they would have to draw far outside the lines. Steve would have created a Mac Nano by now costing around $300 with a M1 processor. It would have turned the industry upside down as the Windows world has literally nothing to compete with that. In other areas, such as VR, Apple is far behind the rest of the industry. Perhaps their AR glasses will redefine the market the way the iPhone did. -
Apple TV with camera and built-in HomePod speaker reportedly in the works
Hmm. Built in camera? Don’t most Apple TV boxes sit below the screen like tuners/amps equipment have for decades? This would make for a really bad FaceTime camera angle.Otoh, integrated ATV + HomePod sound is a no-brain-er. Especially if it incorporated the bass missing from the new mini versions. Effectively a center channel/sub-woofer combo. -
Intel wants to manufacture Apple Silicon
cpsro said:Designing for 7nm is one thing. Manufacturing at 7nm is another and everybody knows it. It would be great if Intel could get there, perhaps with federal stimulus, but I don't see how they can do it anytime soon or become price-competitive ever. Actually, they should be "skating" now toward 5nm or less to be competitive.
