The restrictions that the U.S. placed on Huawei Telecom, and later Huawei phones, were never in connection to Apple, so no, not close to the same thing. More to the point, China cannot afford to squeeze Apple too much, as it through its contractors employs millions.

There have been concerns about Huawei Telecom in the West, and why Huawei should be disallowed in critical telecom infrastructure, and these have largely played out, with the exception of some holdouts in the EU who will ultimately have to remove Huawei Telecom gear.

LOL US government agency will never tell Americans the truth. You were being brainwashed. The fact of the truth is US telecomm companies have been installing backdoors ever since Alexander Bell invented the telephone. The telecom companies cooperate with the manufacturer to install spyware. But US government agency cannot cooperate with Huawei to install the backdoor. Because then Huawei will know what is being installed. This is why Huawei got banned totally. Especially when Huawei sells equipment to Iran. Israel cannot install the backdoor to the equipment without Huawei knowing it.

Uhm, the reason that you don't install critical infrastructure from an adversary is that you would be concerned that they would leave backdoors to control that infrastructure, or even, turn it off at a critical time.

Not the same thing as using a backdoor for spying, which, as it turns out, isn't necessary in China as they have full access anyway.
