OpenAI's $6.5B bet on Jony Ive could redefine how people interact with technology
mark fearing said:I feel like Ive and the rest of the Billionaires are so divorced from reality that whatever they make it will be rather pointless. As jobs crumble and the economy craters and the rich get richer, we're as likely to burn their factories down as we are to buy more AI Assistants in the next 10 years. I appreciate Ive's skills, but at has point drinking $80,000 bottles of wine and pining for designer gold accouterments indicates a complete separation from the rest of the world outside of Silicon Valley and private jets and 8th houses in Italy. -

Some kind of Star Trek device operated with the voice would suck.eightzero said:I'm all AI'ed and voice assistantsed out. When Apple said the iPhone 16 was "built for AI" I took that as a warning, not a feature. I just want an off switch, m'kay?
My opinion only. YMMV. If you enjoy this stuff, great. I'm happy for you. -

iPhone 17 Air's battery life could be the shortest in years
Battery life will probably be better than expected. iPhone Air is an exercise in how thin and light can Apple make an iPhone and what battery optimizations and technologies can we use...
My current device is iPhone 16 Pro. I would love to add an iPhone Air to my plan like I added my Watch Ultra and iPad Pro. Can Apple work this out with carriers?
