I almost always side with the engineers on deciding when a product is ready for release. Especially hardware. You can upgrade software, but once you buy a less than perfect piece of hardware, you're stuck with it. Until a newer, better one comes out, then you have to pay again.

Stick with Apple's product. It's better in every way and worth the price difference.
