As an Apple fan I can't help but be disappointed by the completely inappropriate and unsightly proposal for this site.
Agree. What’s wrong with a simple glass box or is that passé now?
True. Or something like the Steve Jobs Theatre at Apple Park which has a minimal presence on the surface but all the activity happens below ground level. What I'd actually like is the continuation of the original "shard" design motif for the site and have the existing building [more likely a re-built portion resembling it] being ruptured by Apple's glass shard emerging from it.

Reading a bit more on the project, it seems the render used in most of the stories isn't actually the design they are going with. *touch wood*

TOP Performance ... TOP = Totally Obnoxious Pricing
    Here we go...
Please configure a stupid PC that comes anywhere near the power and price of the iMac Pro before spouting off these types of comments. When you find one, make sure it can actually run OTS software.
GamePC (Silicon Valley company that makes custom workstations) has Xeon W listed in their prices.

    For comparison:

iMac Pro - $9,699 (same configuration that MKBHD had)
    • Intel Xeon W-2155 (downclocked)
    • Radeon Pro Vega 64 16 GB HBM2 (downclocked)
    • 128 GB DDR4-2666 ECC
    • 2 TB PCIe NVMe SSD
    • 10 Gb network card
    • MacOS
    • 1 year warranty

    GamePC GMT-W7/300 - $6,514 (PC) + $1,299 (Dell UP2715K display) = $7,813
    • Intel Xeon W-2155
    • Radeon Pro Vega Frontier Edition (Vega 64) 16 GB HBM2
    • 128 GB DDR4-2666 ECC
    • 2 TB PCIe NVMe SSD
    • 10 Gb network card (2x)
    • Windows 10 Pro
    • 1 year warranty

That's $1,886 less for a more powerful workstation that can be upgraded and won't have thermal throttling.

Of course, that's just one company's price.
    - Where’s the Thunderbolt 3?
    - Where’s the secure enclave?
    - Can it be mounted on a VESA arm mount?
    - Can it run the much better macOS?

....Missing, missing, no, no. So it's not an equally capable system. (btw I love having my dev iMac arm mounted on my sit-stand desk, it's the ultimate in flexibility, ergonomics, and one clean looking work space).

Sorry but a bunch of crap shoved into an ugly box does not equal a Mac.
So much this. Please, fuck off with the PC builds. Simply not interested.

  • Apple's Cook repeats benefits of AR in interview, says AR glasses tech not mature

"We don't give a rat's about being first, we want to be the best, and give people a great experience. But now anything you would se[e] on the market any time soon would not be something any of us would be satisfied with," Cook said. "Nor do I think the vast majority of people would be satisfied."
Then why did they launch ARKit on devices without depth sensing hardware for the rear camera? It's something that's almost essential for a great AR experience.
"Almost essential"? Not really. Even on a 6S ARKit is providing a great experience. I'm not interested in AR/VR glasses at all at this point in time.

Love the notch as well. I'm looking forward to next year and my upgrade - I'll probably be ready to let go of Touch ID by then!

If the ad industry is complaining, Apple is doing something right.
