  • Apple will have to face claims that it benefitted from iTunes gift card scams

Umm, there are a lot of people in the world who think exactly that JFC.
they expect government to do everything, and shield them from everything.

So it isn’t surprising that they think deep pocket Apple can save them from themselves.
    anything but accept responsibility.

what is the truly amazing thing about this story is what clown show installed this “judge” in a position to waste everyone’s time in court.

    ah: California.
    I know, right!

I mean, the gall of some of these places with their hand out looking to be bailed out when their gambling bets go south… and look at the names, they are all very well known financial, banking, and insurance institutions that was somehow classified as being “too big to fail”. They were deserving of the socialist programs, but the guy trying to put food on his kids kitchen table, well, they should accept the responsibility and not expect to be saved from themselves - Right??

  • Apple fails bid to get 'Think Different' trademark restored in EU

This up is stupid, take the hundreds of millions of dollars spent on the lawsuit and use it buying the swatch group stick. Keep buying until you have control over the company, then shut it down. Problem solved.
I agree, it is stupid… I wonder how the executives at swatch can explain and justify the astronomical amount of legal fees they have spent doing things like this > https://appleinsider.com/articles/15/08/20/swatch-looks-to-trademark-one-more-thing-phrase-made-famous-by-steve-jobs < to its investors/share holders… is that CEO raking in millions a year for being such a good and effective steward of that companies purse and protecting shareholder value? Apple is kind of forced into this, they were the ones who were served with the court papers, and are being sued, and I don’t think they had trademarked anything like that… not to leave without mention its absolutely ridiculous there are laws or courts anywhere that will allow a company to take normal everyday words that might happen to be put in a sequence or recited by an individual… its just plain dumb it is, and worse, that there are people who tolerate it… maybe the CEO’s got family or close friends handling the legal aspects of this type of nonsense, that are also being enriched… it wouldn’t surprise me one bit.

  • Apple's 2023 CarPlay is an Apple Car preview - and is scaring Detroit

No automaker is going to give apple that much control over their vehicle. Weve already seen that with the limited capabilities of CarPlay. In order to gain more control over internal car systems, automakers will need to give up a LOT of proprietary information, and most likely abandon any other potential interfaces like Google or Microsoft. I really don’t see them wanting to alienate any potential customers.

This full display preview we’re seeing is most likely more display space that automakers are willing to work with, but highly doubtful that any systems that compromise their own safety and reputation are going to happen… unless apple were to merge with said automaker… yeah i don’t see that happening either.
I tend to agree with you on most of that… there is too much at play here to give any tech company full control of, or full access to the proprietary in-car technologies already developed by the auto manufactures. However, any auto manufacture that does not include compatibility to Apple technologies will do so at their own peril. Today’s customer is more tech savvy than ever before and they know what they want, and if it’s Apple tech, they will buy from manufactures who provide that… The smart move for all the auto manufactures would be to design their systems to accept and work with all viable technologies for such purposes, and it be a dealer installed (at time of purchase) option. Kind of a plug and play like the current line up of TV services are, such as Apple TV, Fire, Hulu, Netflix, etc… where each service will work on almost all TV hardware. Want a Ford - buy it with the Apple technologies… don’t like or want to pay for Apple, then get the “Google Android based system in that same vehicle on that same car lot… just have it installed and configured during the new car prep phase of the transaction… kind of like how the old GM based on star system is… a subscription based service that no one ever wanted, but it was installed regardless of the wants or need of the customer… so its not like it can’t be done… they’ve been doing something similar for years already. Ford has it’s own, as did Dodge/Chrysler, and Toyota, etc…

  • Tesla, BMW don't appear to be gearing up to join Apple's new CarPlay vision

    Who’s surprised by Tesla?

Knowing Apple, they will update software frequently and it will be secure. If Apple can kick Tesla’s ass in software, this will make non-Tesla electric cars more tempting.
Yup, and Tesla is a fraud in its own right that no one in a regulatory agency, in any country does anything about. How’s that solar panel business Elon saved his brother from working out? How about it’s cozy relationship with the gov’t of China? Has anyone even started to look at the security risks the Tesla products introduce to our society? How long did it recently take hackers to make a set of Tesla keys and make away with their vehicle? Like 130 seconds, or something like that? The company was created to suck as much public money as it can (corporate welfare) to enrich its founder, fund its technological R&D, and swindle uniformed investors alike… the accounting standards its being subjected to are suspect at best. Apple not being accepted into that ecosystem is no loss to Apple… they would be fighting the Tesla companies sneaky ways to funnel user/customer data into the hands of the highest bidder…
