  • Facebook shutters news rather than pay up under new Canadian law

It's Meta's right to refuse to provide services to any or all countries. It's also Apple's right, and I hope this encourages Apple to refuse to withdraw services and products from regions with unacceptable rules. For example, now that the EU has won the USB-C requirement, the EU is suddenly pushing for all smartphones to have removable batteries. Is Apple going to continue to do business there if that law passes? Next, the EU will mandate the particular size and connection types for those removable batteries. Is Apple going to let the EU micromanage their product designs, or will Apple just leave the region like Meta is doing?
Hardly fair equivalence. What’s more, both laws are good laws. If you like your lightning connector so much you are free to buy whichever freedom product you like in America. Don’t let us pesky Europeans force our common sense on you.
Europe is only 23% of Apples total revenue, and it’s declining when compared to other parts of the world, the EU micro management won’t stop, don’t like Meta but they are under no obligation to offer a profitless service in Canada, and they won’t be the first to move on or offer less services.
How exactly is it a profitless service?

Any chance there’ll be a head-to-head against the 14” MacBook Pro?

"despite pundit coverage suggesting Apple is somehow behind in the "AI" race" is clearly written to suggest that you don't agree that Apple is behind in the AI race. Well, I'd love some of what you're drinking, because from my perspective, Siri is a woeful piece of garbage whilst I have had several helpful interactions with ChatGPT 4, Bard, and Bing. I also have several pieces of Art on my wall that were generated by DALL·E 2.
I suspect that what the author is referring to is the research that Apple is currently doing for future implementation and products. Comparing Siri, a relatively mature, old-school product, to other companies’ current cutting edge releases isn’t really the point.

  • Apple renews 'The Morning Show' for season four ahead of third season premiere

This show is completely average. Big shiny stars aside, there is nothing new or original about it, at all. If the title said “Apple Cancels The Morning Show” instead, how many people would really care?
As with any TV show, all the people who watch and enjoy it. And clearly, there are enough of them to justify renewing the show, potentially for two seasons, despite the cost of its high profile stars.

  • Battle of the sexes: Men and women like different iPhone models

My wife has a 12, and I have a 12 mini. For me, pocketability and weight was key. Anything I want to do on a larger screen I do on my iPad. She doesn’t use an iPad, and does a lot of work work on her phone out in the field, so she wanted the more portable larger screen.
