  • Satechi launches 16-in-1 Multimedia Pro Dock with Thunderbolt 4

Wasn't the entire purpose of Universal Serial Bus to be easy.  What seriously happened.  And agree - USB-A ain't going anywhere - and it's fast.  I don't no why they wouldn't just hop to HDMI and end this.  HDMI is universal and you can't get faster.  Name me a cable.
What do you mean, "hop to HDMI"?  The dock already has two HDMI ports.

You can definitely get faster than HDMI, USB4/TB4 alternate mode is faster, as is DisplayPort from 2.0.

  • Reddit client Apollo is shutting down on July 1st -- please decline your refund

Why should anyone decline a refund for a service they paid for is being shut down? This developer is a great person but Apollo isn't a charity although at times he gives IAPs to charity nothing indicates that declining a refund would go to a charitable cause. He's made a lot of money, I mean a lot of money over the years and knew the risk building a business off another business and that risk finally materialized like it always does.
Because the annual subscription was something like $25. Anyone who paid it doesn't miss that money, but owing Apple $250,000 in prorated refunds will certainly hurt. He's done ok, but don't overestimate what a developer makes just because they run a popular app. These people aren't millionaires.

It's your choice to not get refunded of course. But we all agree that declining the refund is the respectable thing to do.

He might not be doing so well that he can afford to pay what Reddit is asking, but it appears that he can surely afford to refund the $250,000 that he got from people that aren't going to be getting what they already paid him for. Evidently, he doesn't fall into this category of  ....... "These people aren't millionaires".

The respectable thing to do is to offer a refund, without crying about not being able to afford it.
Maybe let’s not rely on an internet site called “stack stashers” as an accurate estimate of an app developer’s wealth?

Have you seen how big the heat sinks on the Ultra chips in the Mac Studio and Pro are?  Highly unlikely they’d try to jam that into an iMac chassis.

  • Jony Ive's latest gig is the seal for King Charles's space project

Does Sr. Jonny ever do anything significant - you know, designs other than logos and folding paper red noses for charity? Don't get me wrong, even though this is a worthy amalgam of clip art and hip fonts, having done this kind of work myself for years……and for big bucks, I respect the outcome. It's just that Sr. J was once the head of industrial design at Apple, and even though I wasn't a fan of his "function follows form" ideology, he did give us some extremely memorable products.  My understanding is that he has formed alliances with some major corporations, yet all we see (on this forum, at least) are graphic design concepts 101……maybe even 103, but, again nothing really significant. ¿Que pasa?
Why does Jony Ive have to be doing things that you find significant? Dude has done enough, let him make his logos. Many people do far less.
