Not all new Apple Intelligence features will be available in the fall
A lot of the upcoming features look really handy. Sucks that I’ll have to upgrade from my 14 Pro but at least Apple is investing more into machine learning with an emphasis on privacy and good news the chat gpt functionality is limited to a free opt in as needed on demand. No doubt this AI catch-up push from Apple will kick off a round of copycat functionality from Amazon, Microsoft and Google, but would you trust these three corporates to not share your data…? -
Apple Intelligence & Private Cloud Compute are Apple's answer to generative AI
I’m a self employed builder so these ”AI” (a bullshit term if ever I heard one) improvements should be very handy. Improved Siri and the ability to easily generate images on the fly that show clients what product options will look like in situ - yes please. Hopefully there’s a trickle down of some AI features to my iPhone 14 Pro, otherwise my daughter might be fighting over a very nice 2 year old hand me down iPhone! -
WWDC unlikely to see debuts of any new hardware at all
Why do PC makers have to constantly release new product? Sony by comparison have released 5 PlayStation models in 29 years. It’s become as wasteful as fast fashion despite all the bullshit talk of recycling materials etc. The irony is of course that Apple products have a really long service life if you’re not a power user. I have had 3 Macs since 1999; ‘99 Tangerine iBook, 2005 iMac G5, 2011 MBA. Will be upgrading to an M4 MBP when they’re released this year and see how long I can keep it trucking! -
AI computer showdown - MacBook Air vs. Microsoft Surface Laptop Copilot+ PC
It’s a minefield for anyone buying a PC (so many utter pieces of crap out there) but great to see some decent competition for the MBA. Apple’s shortcoming as always is that stinginess with soldered in GPU’s, hard drives and RAM. It’s always annoyed me that these otherwise brilliant machines from the world’s second richest company are hobbled by their tightarseness. -
Nine-core M4 iPad Pro benchmarks leak, still smokes M2
Based on how they’ve handed out the M4 to iPad Pro, I’d wager on a two year M4/AI release cycle with 2024 seeing Pro models getting M4 chips and enhanced AI features in the respective OS’s, followed by consumer models in 2025. Perhaps 2025 will kick off with a gen 2 Apple Vision Pro M4 alongside a slightly more affordable non pro Apple Vision. Would coincide with AVP’s belated international release and Apple’s forthcoming AI improvements… iPhone Pro 16 could also be part of push to see AI advances on pro models first…
