  • First Singapore Apple Store to open soon after long delay

Long time coming.  Was always odd that SIN didn't have a store.

  • Make your new iPhone or iPad work harder with five of the best productivity apps

Why use 1Password when iCloud Keychain is built into Safari and is automatically on all your devices?
While others have had clear enough reasons, my gripe is the inability to deal with app passwords.

on overall recommendations, I do love PCalc (and sadly the watch app); it is great to have RPN mode.  Only thinking missing are built-in TVM formulas.

Missing though is my favorite, GoodReader.  Access smb/cifs shares direct from your iPad, along with being able to mark up documents.

  • Phil Schiller again defends Touch Bar MacBook Pro's 16GB RAM limitation

I was cursing my MacBook Air's lack of a dedicated Ethernet port today as I was troubleshooting network issues.  I have 5 or 6 different Ethernet dongles (home, office, vacation home, suitcase, grab-bag/briefcase, and maybe another one on a shelf...).  They are all named "Thunderbolt Ethernet Adapter n". I tried to change the names, but it gets even more confusing.

My challenge is the one for the office is configured for 4 different VLANs, and undoing that (especially with 5 duplicate devices) can really be a pain in the ass.

Next laptop will have a built-in Ethernet port.

  • With Apple abandoning AirPort, here are the best alternative Wi-Fi routers for Mac users

Terrible selections.  http://amplifi.com/ is likely the best product for any AirPort user.  Throw a NAS drive in with support for TimeMachine and live happy.  Mesh network, so fills in dead zones easily.

  • How Donald Trump's election as U.S. President could affect Apple

This partisanship is depressing; people need to get over it.  There are very real differences between what Trump and Clinton presidencies would entail, but to the average person they are second and third order issues that don't directly impact them.  Yes, the idea of a Guliani Attorney General scares the living shit out of me, but I can't really say that Hillary would be that different in her choice.  The same goes for other economic issues.

That said, limiting H1B's is great! Repatriation tax holiday-- that should put enough money in my pocket to buy a little house!  Outlawing abortions-- not going to impact me!  Protectionism... well, I guess I visit Hawaii rather than Thailand or Mexico.  More coal power... well, avoid waterfront property.  Being a laughingstock on the global stage... just turn up your reality tv show...

Now, if you have kids, either outcome would make the majority of you shit your pants in a few months, so get over it.
