  • Adobe hikes Creative Cloud prices with a rebrand no one asked for

I had an Acrobat subscription at one time and my biggest complaint wasn’t the cost but was that they would keep fiddling with the software and make it worse. It would be one thing to pay for improvements but when they remove features or scramble things up it makes something that was easy to do into something that is a pain. There is a discussion on the Adobe online community forum that has been going on for years where people are just asking for them to bring back scroll bars.

  • After a lengthy legal battle and billion-dollar loss, 'Fortnite' is back on iOS

It’s a sad day for freedom.
    That’s over the top.

  • TSMC's US factory shows the limits of reshoring, tariffs, and corporate welfare

I worked at an engineering and executive level in the semiconductor industry for 35 years.  I knew and worked closely with TSMC experts and executives, including the current co-CEO.  Many of the top TSMC experts worked in US semi companies before Morris Chang recruited them to the US.  Those guys are SMART.

I don’t want to say that the most advanced chips cannot be made by TSMC in the US, but I can confidently say that it is naive in the extreme to suggest that it can be done quickly or easily here.  Work culture in Taiwan is much different than it is in the US .   Work-life balance does not exist the way we think of it here.  The fabs in Taiwan have bookstores and flower stores, among others, right off the cafeteria.  Why?   So you never have to leave the plant.  Is it your son’s birthday?   Get a present for him at work before you get home at 10 PM.

This is a hard truth, like it or not.  Frankly, I am surprised to read that TSMC continues to invest in new factories here.  My fingers are crossed.  I think TSMC will only build easy stuff here, that is to say, technology that is mature enough to only require monitoring in the production line, no innovation required.
I remember reading David Packard’s memoir “The HP Way” and how their Japanese division had a failure rate of only 0.001% (ten in a million) which was 400 times better than the rest of the company of about 0.4%. The reason he said for the difference was that in the Japanese division they would try to do everything as perfectly as possible instead of just “good enough”.

  • Apple refutes Epic Games claim that it has blocked 'Fortnite' worldwide

I wonder if Epic did this to get Apple to inadvertently state that it was still banning it in the US.

  • Trump is too busy for his own tariff negotiations, so will dictate terms instead

The suits of the Heard and McDonald islands will be able to meet with Trump over tuna tarrifs. White House aides will need to put down an immense amount of newspaper before the meeting.
Trump probably thinks he is going to be negotiating with Oswald Cobblepot.
