After World War I the U.S. Navy with support from President Woodrow Wilson forced the British Marconi Company to sell its U.S. subsidiary (Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company of America) to American company General Electric.
EDIT: This company then became RCA which was one of the most important US engineering companies of the 20th century.

Most people in and outside the US are probably in damage mitigation mode for the next couple of years and hoping things aren't as bad as they could be.

What’s funny is that technically the promises made so far by the incoming administration are not binding since they aren’t in office until tomorrow. So if they want to do a 180 on TikTok for whatever reason they could prosecute the company for noncompliance.
