  • Apple got Adobe Flash to work on iOS but performance was 'abysmal,' says Scott Forstall

Since only Epic’s side is being published, Apple’s side must have some damning information about Epic that the media is choosing to hide in an attempt to paint Apple in a bad light even though what is being published is old news that has nothing to do with what the court case is supposed to be about.
You assume it's something insidious with "the media." Assuming this is Epic's side, it's published because Epic leaked it, and Apple hasn't leaked its side. Apple doesn't leak.

    Agreed. Just awful bloatware.

  • Apple must face lawsuit alleging that 'buying' media on iTunes is misleading

    JMaille said:

When you “buy” something you don’t get essentially unlimited rights to the object.... When you “buy” a car you don’t get the right to disassemble and replicate the car and sell those copies. When you “buy” a home you don’t get the right to just rip it down and put up a shopping center (at least not usually). There are always, terms, conditions, laws, or licenses limiting your rights with regards to anything you “buy.”

When you "buy" a car, the car is yours to do with as you please: drive it, disassemble it, modify it, even resell it at any price you can fetch. A home is purchased with the same freedom (neighborhood association restrictions aside) to remodel, neglect or resell as you wish. That is very different from "leasing" a car or home. The concept of "buying" audio recordings dates back more than a century, and consumers know exactly what that is supposed to mean. Further reproduction, especially for commercial use, has always been illegal, but no distributor ever took away one's LPs because they were used to make a mix tape.

  • Massive Facebook data leak connected to undisclosed 2019 breach

Honest question: In 2021, who are the people still using Facebook? The answer to that demographic question must be intriguing...

My experience is that more people are using their FB accounts like ISPs had imagined people would use their portal pages: They check it quickly (but regularly) for messages and news, then move on. Of course, many are still on all the time, too. Your disdain, though perfectly reasonable, is not representative of the public at large.

  • Apple declares 13-inch MacBook Pro from 2012 'obsolete'

I don't expect Apple to support obsolete products the same way they do current models, but I wish they'd authorize third parties to manufacture key replacement parts. It seems wrong that I can get key parts to a 1948 Buick (although not necessarily from GM) but not a 2012 MacBook.
