  • 'Apple Car' needs Machine Learning to make driving decisions fast enough

I am in agreement with other critics of self-driving cars. As long as humans remain in control of cars ,machine learning, artificial intelligence, sensors, etc. will be no match for the eccentricities, poor judgement, inattention,  and road rage of homo sapien  drivers.

On a more positive note, I read an article about an Israeli company who has contracted to build a one mile stretch of highway in Michigan with charging coils embedded in the pavement to allow wireless charging of EVs while they drive over the road. Of course the EVs will also be equipped with coils as well. If this turns out to be a practical solution to the range issue of EVs it will change everything.
This concept has already been tried before. And it didn't quite scale.
And definitely not in pot-hole miserable MIchigan where new roads crumble after only a few years.  Would get extremely expensive to replace very expensive copper coils.

Not to mention, in Detroit the jackhammers would come out to dig up the copper and sell it.

  • Battle of the super yachts: Jeff Bezos' Y721 versus Steve Jobs' 'Venus'

The Maltese Falcon yacht built for Tom Perkins (Kleiner Perkins) is truly magnificent, and had many many innovative features.

Black Pearl continued on this high tech tri-mast sailing vessel design.

So Bezos is continuing in this path, will be interesting to see what new tech he brings with it.

Maybe one day all three ships will be observed together, likely around Monaco.

  • Morgan Stanley bumps Apple price target to $210 on record-breaking Q1 2022

$250 (unless all hell breaks loose in Ukraine)

All one has to do is look around.  AppleWatch, AirPods, iPhones, MacBooks everywhere (here in the US at least).  And while I may live in a very affluent area I notice more or less the same wherever I go.

And of course that’s only what’s obvious in the wild.

    Services will continue growing nicely.

Rarely see droid phones or watches, even though droid phones dominate worldwide, mostly out of necessity, and same for PCs.

So there’s still plenty of room for Apple to gain a bigger slice of the overall expanding pie.

    Long Apple

  • Eve introduces new outdoor HomeKit cam & MotionBlinds availability at CES 2022

Looking forward to checking this out in person at CES.  Eve seems to have the best approach to HomeKit: sell excellent hardware not subscriptions.

  • Smaller Mac Pro with Apple Silicon to join Mac mini refresh in 2022

A Mac Pro would pretty much require a M2 processor with graphics cores that include hardware ray tracing if it is to compete with professional solutions from NVIDIA and AMD. The summer/fall time frame is right for the M2 to be released and Apple now has a hardware compatible ray tracing SDK. It will be exciting to see what Apple can do in the rapidly evolving field of high end GPUs.
Agreed. It will likely offer an M2 Max Quad or Octo as options. Maybe M2 Max Duo on the low end.

An octo would mop the floor with anything that comes out in that time frame, likely until the m3 version.

The Mac Pro is the ultimate machine. Nothing should be able to top the higher tiers.
Unless they introduce a Mac Max.
