Crime blotter: Influencer who filmed Philadelphia Apple Store looting headed to trial
The 22-year-old woman, who uses the social handle "Meatball," has been held for court on charges that include burglary, conspiracy, and criminal trespass, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Her video included footage of people stealing from the Apple Store and slamming iPhones to the ground once they realized the items were bricked.Hopefully she'd be at least 32 before she walks out of the slammer. The way to end these big city looting sprees is to start imposing sufficiently long sentences.
Also, can you imagine the stupidity of thieves so ill-informed they don't know that stolen iPhones get bricked and so anti-social that they then smash them. You and I pay more for everything we buy from food to iPhones because these people are walking free rather than doing time.

Apple gearing up for fall launch of new two new AirPods models
Expected updates as part of iOS 18 include a hearing aid mode feature destined for the AirPods Pro, while AirPods may gain a hearing test function.
My hearing isn't great but not so bad that I need the cost and hassles of a standard hearing aid. I'd be interested in an AirPod that dealt with that, but only at a reasonable price. Otherwise, I will just ask people to speak up. One more thing. The battery needs to be easily replaceable.

AirTag & police save builder from massive stolen car replacement expense
Builders often have valuable tools, chargers and other equipment stolen from construction sites. Apple would do well to come up with a wider variety of packages for AirTags, so they can be installed in more places. For instance I'd love to have a thin one that would slip in my wallet like a credit card.
A company that makes heavy-duty power plugs might make one that can conceal an AirTag. It could replace the existing plug. -
