PCIe 5.0 standard gets ratified, could find a home in 2019 Mac Pro
melgross said:AMD isn’t supporting pci 4 yet, and from what I last read from their release, it won’t be until 2020, unless that’s somehow changed. Their video cards are just now supporting pci 4.
intel isn’t expected to have support of pci 4 until end of 2019 with 10nm Cannon Lake.
Pci 5 was fast tracked, so it’s out earlier than it otherwise would have been. But early 2019 for support? Hardly. -

There isn't any IP for PCI-E 5.0 yet, so the chance of it coming up in this year Mac Pro is Zero.
Possible for 2020, but that is if Intel support it, so far nothing on its roadmap shows they have any urgency. Compare to AMD which is quick support PCI-E 4.0 and I expect them to be first with 5.0 as well. Likely in Zen 3 with DDR5 and PCI-e 5.0 -

Apple replaced 11M iPhone batteries under 2018 repair program, 9M more than average
Is this piece suppose to tell me , 11x more people did exchange battery, and it is Apple's doing good for customers? Or it is because of battery replacement that is hurting sales? And Apple underestimated how popular the repair programme is ?
FOR PETE Sake, there are over 200 million ~iPhone 6 / 6s+ out there, and only 5% did battery swap. -
Qualcomm pushed for iPhone exclusivity in response to $1B incentive payment demand, CEO sa...
I don't ever want a Dual Sourced iPhone Modem again. As much as like to use Qualcomm iPhone. I think it is time for Apple to just bite the bullet and just make their own Modem. There are quite a few 4G / 5G Modem IP out there already, so it is not like they are starting from Scratch.
But looking at some of the testimony today it doesn't seems Apple ever consider that an option. And if they haven't started now it means we won't be seeing it in the next 3 - 4 years.
