Apple could owe over $8 billion in European taxes, new estimate indicates
jungmark said:It was legal and allowed. The EU is crying foul because they need money for bailouts.
This is about some very large companies having been given preferential tax deals that most other companies couldn't avail of. This conferred a huge competitive advantage on the companies that got the special rates. It has nothing to do with money needed for bailouts. The term bailout is misnomer. They aren't gifts, they are loans at ridiculous usurious interest rates. The EU is actually profiting hugely from these so-called bailouts.
Ireland was one of the 'lucky' recipients of one of these 'bailouts'. The interest rate was a whopping 6% at a time when The ECB official rate was 1%. Gee, thanks for the huge 'favour'. The IMF stuck the boot in as well. The EU reduced the rate to between 3.5 and 4% in mid 2011 but the IMF still were getting 5%.

This shouldn't just be about Apple, but all the companies that have had their snouts in the trough.

Apple A9 chip fab TSMC reports record earnings, casting further doubt on 'Peak iPhone'
canukstorm said:wizard69 said:I do seem to remember that the "peak oil" crowd was made up of mostly environmentalist. Actuall fringe environmentalists. It is a class of people that for whatever reason feel personally threatened by big business. I like to think of my self as environmentally minded, but I never really understood the hate directed at big oil. There are some strange personalities in the environmental movement.
As for "peak iPhone" well that is bound to happen sometime. Every product ever conceived by man eventually finds market equilibrium. I serious doubt though that this will happen in 2016.
On a side note I'm close to becoming a one percenter. Still rocking an iPhone 4. I'm not sure if it will make it to the next iPhone release though. IPhone 7 sounds very interesting though it is likely to be too big for my tastes.
It's a class of people that are anti-science / technology and anti-industrialization. I just prefer to call them hippies

Stop lying and stop peddling fantasies.
Why are you here? You presence here makes no sense, unless your fracking trolling.
Looks like throttling may not be a problem as there are rumours the S7 will employ heat pipes for cooling.
I am here because I have had an interest in Apple products since their beginning and have been here a very long time. Certainly longer than you. I was a lurker for years before I signed up.
