  • Apple Card partner Goldman Sachs says Apple's new video, game & news services will have 's...

I'm sure they will be tiny revenue earners just like all Apple's other non-iPhone divisions /s
Do you know a single person anywhere in the world that is even remotely interested in paying for Apple's original video content? Because you'd be the first.

If it is like Netflix "Originals", it just means, 98% of the time, it is a show from over seas that they bought distribution rights for.

  • Apple unveils new AirPods with Wireless Charging Case, 50% more talk time & 'Hey Siri' [u]...

I may be missing something here, what exactly do they mean with Hey Siri support????  Hey Siri works just fine by double tapping the AirPod if my iPhone is within range.

Hey Siri is activated by just talking, not pressing anything.

$79 for the wireless charging case. Apple is effing crazy. I picked up a case at the local Apple reseller for $30. I could see paying more if it offered more and still the sound quality of the AirPods is fair to partly cloudy. But to each his or her own.
I'm curious what you bought. Do you have an Amazon link or something?
They are basically sleeves for the current AirPods case, ranging from $20-40.
    $20
    $36
    $40
$79 for Apple's case may be worth it for those who want OEM peace of mind.  For others, not so much.  YMMV
Most likely I’ll be selling my old airpods for around $100, and paying $100 to get longer battery life plus wireless charging plus hey Siri which will be great for the car. A much better deal than my first airpods purchase.
$100 when the regular price for new is only $60 more. Well good luck with that. I don't understand people buying earbuds that have been in someone else's ears. Not sanitary.

Well apparently you just throw them through the washing machine!

Outstanding!...  My first generation were really getting tired, down to about an hour battery life, less if on the phone.  Black would have been nice, but I'll take 'em!  Ordered

Devices that are throw-away simply because the batteries are dying really irk me.
Apple really should address this kind of waste.

  • Apple cuts prices on high-end MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac mini SSD upgrades

Based on my workflow, frugality and security concerns with T2 controller and soldered on storage, I use external media for most of my offloading via NVMe USB-C drives and keep the core OS and targeted apps internal. 256GB is usually enough with 512GB being the max needed. If somehow my Macbook Pro 15 2018 goes to the big Steve Jobs Theatre in the sky, I can quickly just attach another Mac and keep working.

Those times I need to take a project(s) with me, I can either move it to local internal storage or just take the external drive with me.

This isn't anything new with me. I've been this way ever since my SE/30 died on me many moons ago along with its internal SCSI drive and I went into panic mode. Since then, the bulk of project/mission critical files has been external depending on the setup (IE, Cheese Grater I installed OS on one internal drive and projects, files on another).

It just makes financial sense now on top of everything else.

i have had far more external drives fail than internal.
This is over 13 years of caring for about 4 dozen Apple computers & a lifetime of dealing with my own.

For mission critical laptops, the users have a travel TimeMachine drive & clone (CCC). Both simply get plugged in & the respective software does its thing - CCC will even eject the clone.

We went with 4 TB 2.5" Samsung SSDs for a long time before Apple finally brought pro capacity to the Pro line. This meant we were limited in what hardware we could use, but processing power was never a limitation for us. Now we pay Apple's price, but can get OWC & other upgrades for the lower capacity laptops (just put 2 TB in a Macbook Air!)
