Apple to begin reopening stores in US next week
Specifically, some of the stores in Alabama, Alaska, Idaho, and South Carolina will be opening.
Common feature: all 4 are Bright Red States. Not wanting to be a Debbie Downer here, but what has changed in the world since all stores were shut? Nothing. No vaccine, no drug that will "cure" or really even mitigate the disease (notwithstanding any claims to the contrary). The virus is still here and still spreading through human-to-human contact. Check the newspapers, it is daily front-page news: people are still dying by the thousands across the country. Hey, I'm as keen as anyone for the world to get back to normal. But seriously, nothing has changed other than eruptions of pent-up frustrations apparently reaching boiling points here and there. Good luck, Apple. -
Gym encounter sees Tim Cook become early investor in Nebia smart shower
I got one of the earlier versions on Kickstarter. Eventually sent it back for a few reasons, primary among which you lose the ability to have a decent hand-held spray that is critical to rinsing/cleaning the shower stall. The “mist” that the Nebia’s unit emits is not at all effective in performing this function. -
Wallet app hints at imminent Apple Card iPhone installment plan launch
I bought a new iPhone at the local Apple Store a few days ago. The new program is not in effect yet. It's "supposed to be" but it's not. The Apple Store rep was aware of it, had recently been trained on it, and was excited that I was going to be his first customer to charge the iPhone installment plan to an Apple card. However, as we completed the transaction it became clear it wasn't going to work. The final workaround was for me to stick with a Citizens One loan and have the monthly installment balance charged to my Apple card. I still get the 3% on the Apple card because it's payment for an Apple product. -
Review: ZenPod turns your AirPods case into a fidget spinner
The one feature missing from all of these appealing cases is a way to put your name and contact info on them. In the event you lose your AirPod case, having your name & contact info readily apparent at least offers the hope that whoever finds your case will contact you to arrange a return. This actually happened to me when I left my case on a flight. My AirPods case is personalized with a strip of paper containing my contact info covered with clear tape wrapped around the case. Not pretty but it works. -
Rumor: 2019 iPhone to sport 3x telephoto lens, 4,000mAh battery with 15W wireless charging...
welshdog said:Why not offer a high capacity battery version of each model? Jony Ive could still be happy with the super skinny, standard battery models and could just avert his eyes from the thicker, big battery versions. Now that Apple actually seems concerned about flagging sales, this would be an easy way to get a boost. Let's face it, most iPhone users don't care much about anything but runtime. It's certainly the biggest source of frustration with all phone users, regardless of brand.
