Apple signs union agreement for Glasgow Apple Store staff
Interesting. In the U.S., recognition ballot is not voluntary. If enough workers vote to unionize, management is obliged to recognize that union and to bargain in good faith. In the U.K., what happens if management simply refuses to allow recognition ballot? Sounds like those who had already joined could strike, but then are they protected from summary firing? -

Inside Apple Brompton Road: A gorgeous slice of calm in London
“there is an instant sense of calm peace compared to the noise outside”
Wow, I long for this experience. My nearest local Apple Store is in the Brea Mall in Southern California. It is, and has been, from the beginning the antithesis of the London store—one has to exit the store to get an instant sense of calm and peace.I have been haranguing Apple at every opportunity given to me to do something about the noise level in their mainline stores. It’s bad enough when being there for a purchase or Genius Bar service, but trying to take a class in this cacophony is torture. My ears literally hurt by the time I can escape. How can this be good for business? -
