  • Compared: New iPad versus 2021 iPad

A comparison to current iPad Air would be interesting because they seem identical. Quick look at MacTracker shows that the only significant advantage of the iPadAir over the iPad Nothing is the M processor.
Checking Apples website, the processor, laminated display, and Apple Pencil gen 2 vs 1 support are the upgrades on the Air.

Really don’t understand why they don’t just merge the 2 models at a $500 price now since I can’t see many people considering those upgrades worth $150 more. Also what is with coming out with the Apple Pencil gen 1 to USB C adapter, years after making people replace there’s on the Pro and Air lineup, seems like such a logical back step?
I think the Air is the last of its kind. Next upgrade of the Nothing will likely cover the remaining distinctions.

  • Apple Watch battery blowout sends man to emergency room

Lead poisoning!? Sounds like someone looking for a payday from the get-go. In my experience, if you report a problem straight away Apple will make it right. Watch should have gone to the nearest Apple Store at the first sign of trouble. No waiting around to see what would happen next.

  • Apple's Touch ID is probably never coming back to iPhone

Not crazy about the on button fingerprint sensor on my iPad Air. Works okay with no cover, but Apple’s magnetic cover having both a front and back cover makes seating the finger difficult. Waiting for face reader.

  • AirTag gets magical mystery tour of Portugal in lost luggage

Brought back un-fond memories of the year before AirTags. In 2017 our luggage was lost on a flight from Lisbon to Madrid. When we got home to L.A. we spent weeks dealing with airlines, airports, insurance, and other entities. Eventually my wife’s bag was found in Toronto (what is it about Portugal and Toronto!?) and eventually got to LAX. My bag was never recovered. I was one of the first to order AirTags the day they became available and they are duct taped to an inside corner of our bags inside the lining for every trip.

Who knew that the cost to replace every item would be $5000! Allstate homeowner’s policy covered our loss, but what we didn’t realize was that they raised our rates on ALL our policies, including auto, because of the loss. We totaled it up and found that they got their five grand back in three years of higher premiums, and at this point are making a clear profit out of the deal. My advice: eat the loss, or buy separate trip insurance that covers luggage loss.
