  • iPadOS 15 confirms Apple's M1-equipped iPad Pro is a V8 engine powering a Ford Pinto

rcfa said: Likely neither. Apple itself pushes “universal apps” where one license, for one price, installs on both macOS and i(Pad)OS.
    That's one vote for "freebie".
A paid app is not a “freebie” <facepalm>
It’s up to the developer to figure out his costs and price the app accordingly, and users shouldn’t have to pay extra because the app runs on one hardware or another. You don’t buy separate licenses for “full screen mode” apps, laptop apps, desktop apps, etc.
An iOS version is simply another display mode for the same code, one would hope, and not a toy version of the app, at least not in 2021 on an M1

  • Apple restricts offensive AirTag engravings, including emoji combinations

That’s going to be fun, when Asians want a Lucky 88 on their tag, and hyperventilating SJWs start pointing out that Neo-Nazis use that instead of HH 🤦🏻‍♂️

Could Apple stop with the Disneyfication of the world? It’s OK to be offended and to offend! It’s part of the human experience.

And what about the hand emoji that in some cultures means a-hole and in others a-OK? Or the one that either means “rock on” or “you’re girl ist cheating on you” depending on cultural context?
    or, or, or, …

Apple might just as well stop engraving anything at all, because in some language, in some context, someone will find anything offensive.

  • Compared: 2021 iPad Pro vs 2020 iPad Pro and 2018 iPad Pro

Why is this thing not dual boot macOS and iPadOS?

In particular, a 12” iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard is, in every sense, the superior hardware when compared to a MacBook Air, yet it’s forced to run the crippled iPadOS!

The kernel is the same between macOS and iPadOS, Catalyst is present to run i(Pad)OS apps under macOS, and the OS could restrict apps to Catalyst when used without MagicKeyboard to optimize for touch Ui.

But why can we not (at least optionally) run macOS on an iPad Pro wit MagicKeyboard?

THAT is what I’m waiting for! A Mac with the ability to use pen/finger to interact where needed. For the most part, I use my current iPad Pro with keyboard and touchpad, with the occasional screen/pen interaction

  • Apple debuts colorful 24-inch iMac with M1, upgraded camera and audio

    Annoying grey screen bezel! Yuck!

black border please! Or at least same color as the case, so one can pick dark blue, or silver.

two colors on the front is just annoying

  • Ad companies still thinking about 'fingerprinting' to work around Apple's privacy rules

Apple should simply put it into their contract, that whoever tries to bypass the no tracking request by any means gets kicked out of the AppStore.

Trying to plug one hole after another is a never ending battle; this is better solved by contract law and massive punitive fees as well as AppStore bans.
