  • Apple lobbies California DMV to keep self-driving car plans out of public eye

Weird. The headline and the story seem to be in conflict in at least their tone. :/

  • Samsung's Galaxy S8 facial recognition feature defeated with digital photo

    Shocking.
I wonder the S8 would be better at telling the difference between a person's face and a picture if it had a dual-lens front camera. Or does Samsung think only one eye is needed for depth perception.

  • Apple board member Al Gore sells $29.5M of company stock

As a long time shareholder I'm sure glad to see my shares being diluted by this guy. What has he done for the company?
Well, since he was on the board of directors he was actually involved with the management company -- which I bet is more than you did for Apple.

He acted as a representative of you. He helped shape policy that might potentially impact investors like you (and himself). But he's only one of many, and maybe he shared your views but was overruled by everyone else. Do you have any documentation of his opinion on the taxation matter? Any records of votes? Or are you scapegoating one guy because things didn't go the way you liked? Maybe he's not happy with the political commentating the company is doing and that's why he's pulling out his investment.

  • Comparison: Which Apple MacBook is right for you?

He's got a security key, those are different. You can't just dump the data onto another flash drive.
Surely there are contingencies for such events as hardware failure, or even a hardware upgrade (as this would be).
In the event of hardware failure he would have to visit the IT staff and get a new security device issued -- which would also be USB-A.
The company picks a security hardware vendor for products that meet their needs at the best price. They pick the company whose products are compatible with over 95% of the computers out there. Maybe the vendor has a USB-C device in the planning. Meanwhile, the company already has unused USB-A devices ready to be used. Why should they have to buy another product just because Steve the special snowflake can't buy a "normal" computer?

  • 'iPhone 7' sales pitch seen as key for 275M iPhone owners running devices more than 2 years old

Munster estimates that among the current iPhone install base, some 275 million users are on devices more than two years old. Those are potential customers using handsets with screen sizes of 4 inches and smaller, who could be key customers to entice into upgrading to a larger display.

Wasn't the whole point of the iPhoneSE to get these people with pre-iPhone 6's to upgrade? If those people haven't upgraded to a larger phone yet, it's likely because they just don't want one that's that size.

Not to mention the iPhoneSE definitely still has a headphone jack.
