Interesting. I just tried it for the first time and got 501/482 on the FCC and 550/442 on Ookla (which is really a test of my wifi. Wired is ≈937/921 U/D 2ms). The big differentiator for me was ping. 20-22ms FCC vs 4ms Ookla

Wait, does Intel even HAVE support? Maybe this is a match made in heaven.

Intel has been impressively bad these past few years, so really, any change is welcome at this point.

(And yes, I'm especially bitter at them because they just canceled a friend's pension without warning or compensation. He's a few years from retirement still (several really) so he'll be fine - he'll have to work for another year or so to make up for it - but it was just a lousy thing to do to someone. Well, assuming he still has a job there in a few years. Who knows?)

I won't begin to say that HomePods are perfect. They're not - and I think the biggest problem (that we encounter) is that they seem to work better with a slight pause after "Hey Siri." My wife forgets that and it frustrates me because I know it's not going to work. But then again, about 50% of the time it does work for her. (As opposed to over 90% of the time if you add that ever-so-slight pause after "Siri.")

Point being: if a visual clue improved upon that for her, I can't imagine it being a bad thing.

Wrong. It's absolutely removable.

It's just not able to be (easily? seamlessly?) reconnected. And removing it will most likely cause permanent damage to the unit.

But you CAN remove it. Once.
