  • Microsoft Surface Pro announcement event is on September 22

If the world is really lucky, the announcement will be that Microsoft is abandoning the Durface range…

like they did with Zune, Kin, Windows Phone, PocketPC, Spot Watch, etc  :D

  • Security of Quebec vaccine passport app's QR codes questioned

I live in Quebec and what is sad is the implementation of a vaccine passport that will create two classes of citizens. Call it segregation, apartheid. This is 1938 Nazi Germany nothing less. BC and Ontario will follow. Canada is now known as Chinada. Shame.
Your ignorance of the true horrors of Nazi Germany is stupefying and insulting to the memories of all those that suffered its actions.

Segregation and apartheid are policies that divide people on attributes they have no control over such as race.
Not getting vaccinated is a choice, one which has consequences both positive and negative. Grow up and take responsibility for your (deluded anti-vax) choice.

  • Apple Pay limit to increase to GBP 100 from October 15 in UK

    xbit said:
The reason for the increase to £100 is that the current Conservative government is trying to justify Brexit by finding ways to diverge from the EU. No-one else benefits from this increase apart from thieves.
We have a conspiracy theorist in the house!!  :D
Absolutely nothing to do with Brexit. Everything to do do with people moving away from using cash which has accelerated during the pandemic.
But being a conspiracy theorist you probably don’t believe there is a pandemic…

  • EU to propose common charger for all smartphones, ignores Apple's protest

    StephaneB said:
The EU institutions are populated with people struggling to justify their jobs, so they come up with dumb and hurtful ideas that they hope will make them look busy. They will now mandate USB C, preventing any better solution to be developed.

It will not prevent any waste, this is ridiculous, most new phones sold are wirelessly chargeable, making that legislation obsolete before it is even written. Will it mean that phone suppliers will be mandated to keep a useless charging connector? Isn't that electronic waste? Will the next step be to forbid Magsafe because it is different to Qi?
Given it’s the EU they’ll probably mandate phones should have RS232 ports for charging instead of something like USB-C…
