  • UK NHS app updated with Apple Wallet support for COVID Pass

    crowley said:
Registering for the NHS app is weird.  You have to record a video of yourself reading off a bunch of numbers, for some sort of verification.  But I've got my COVID pass now, just in case I need it.
    Weird, I didn’t 🤷‍♂️

So Johnny Ive has gone into partnership with the father of decade? Birds of the same feather flock together.
    What?

Prince Charles seems like a dick for many reasons, but his environmentalism isn't one them.
No most Brits think Charles’ environmentalism is pretty hypocritical given the amount of flights in private jets he had taken over the decades and still does. He seems to be one of the types that believe the average person should give up their one annual foreign holiday while he continues to fly on a weekly basis.

    Leave Elon alone!

Seriously, he is the only one able to reach the orbit and send stuff up. And he did it few years ago.

And he is the only one don’t care about if himself go to the space.
You realise NASA went to the moon, right?
You realise NASA are depending on SpaceX to get them back to the moon…
and that Elon will probably beat them to Mars…

  • This may be why Apple's Weather app doesn't show 69-degree temperatures

I wonder why they would choose to use the rounded Celsius for the calculation and not wait to round it until the value is displayed. The Weather Channel app shows values not in that chart.
If a conversion rounding error is what’s happening I think it depends on how the data is being downloaded. If it’s being rounded/truncated to the nearest whole degree then it could easily occur. If they are downloading in tenths of a degree or even half degrees then the conversion would hit every whole degree Fahrenheit.

The US needs to stop using imperial measurements like the rest of the world

Isn’t that a little bit like saying that Europe should drive on the right side of the road?
We use a mix of both, and it suits us just fine.
It’s more like Europe saying England should drive on the left side of the road, and there are very real reasons to convert - aside from the metric system being infinitely easier to learn and use, it makes international commerce much easier. As a practical matter, most manufacturing already happens in metric anyway.

A great example of how much the English system ‘costs’ occurred 20 years ago when NASA lost a Mars spacecraft due to a metric conversion error. $125M crashed onto the surface of Mars because of it. https://www.simscale.com/blog/2017/12/nasa-mars-climate-orbiter-metric/

You guys in the USA are hilarious.

The U.K.* already drives on the left.
Just like the majority of Europe already drives on the right.
You both asked for changes that that are impossible because that’s already how things are…

*Not forgetting your poor geographic grasp of saying England when you mean U.K…. Which is as ridiculous as someone using “Alaska” and “USA” interchangeably.

The may have to leave the UK market to set an example and cool the current wave of attacks. What would be the cost of not leaving?
At some point a stand needs to be made, the UK being a small country, is just the place….
Clearly clueless about finance if you think the U.K. is small, it’s a G7 member.
