  • TV versus Monitor: The pros and cons of using each with your Mac

You’re forgetting that I’m many countries, you have to pay an annual license fee to the government to own and use a tv…
I dumped using a tv years ago. I have a Phillips 40” 4K monitor which is excellent for working from home and is pretty good for watching movies etc on. And in the 7 years I’ve been using it, the saving in tv license fees more than covered the original purchase.

  • Google Maps, Apple Maps, and smartphones are at the forefront of modern war

Take this one step further: An extremely high tech society is incompatible with the kind of wars experienced in the last century. Everything is inter-connected. The attack on the Ukraine causes immediate protests in Russia due to live video streams showing the destruction being caused. Sanctions on Russia mean that their space agency can't get the high tech parts it needs to keep the International Space Station in orbit. When Russian's find out that they can't buy any new technology or replacement parts for existing equipment, they won't be happy. It's like a slow EM pulse turning off the modern world a piece at a time.

Quite the opposite actually:  the low tech world has been kicking high-tech's butt when they get invaded & occupied.   The latest was a bunch of bearded guys wearing dresses carrying Kalashnikov's.  They kicked ass.

As for social media:  not all countries are foolish enough to let it run out of control, unrestricted and drag down their nation like we do.

For sanctions:  Current predictions are that Russia will not be much impacted by them -- they are well prepared.  But we will.  Gas at $4?  Maybe $5?  Even the cost of food will likely rise not to mention the impact on our businesses that are now restricted even further.  Essentially we are using our financial system as a weapon of war -- and that costs...  us.
Sanctions forced Iran to the table to agree to the nuclear deal.
Sanctions helped weaken the apartheid regime in South Africa.

  • Apple's AirTag uncovers a secret German intelligence agency

A busybody discovers that a democratic nation has an intelligence agency to protect it. I’d suggest any democracy lacking one would be incompetently complacent, and probably non-existent too.
Only paranoid conspiracy theorists freak out over this kind of thing.
