  • Apple & Google sued by 'PUBG: Battlegrounds' developer over clones

Why don't they sue the developer? Oh, thats right Apple and Google have more money.
Similar to how a store can't argue to "sue" the manufacturer of knock off products they're selling. If you knowingly allow knock-offs to be sold in YOUR store, YOU are responsible. Simply put, you can't keep profiting off knock-offs, and then when the authorities come calling just plead ignorance.

Question is, what exactly does the App Store have that's a copyright infringement of PUBG? Unless Garena stole their exact code and Apple knowingly allowed them to repost that code under a different app name, I don't see how anyone is at fault. As far as I can tell, all these are just battle Royale based games which isn't copyrighted.

  • Apple is late to AR, but it's going to succeed the way it always does

Meh, pretty sure the same thing was said about HomePod. Thing is these niche devices just don't have the same day to day use case that successful Apple products do. Phones/Computers are the original pair of devices that was easy enough for Apple to produce and they kinda sold themselves. On the other hand headphones/watches weren't as ubiquitous, but Apple was successful in making everyone realize they improve the quality of our day to day use of technology. These won't provide that improvement. They'll be a cool tech demo (aka a fad) and then they'll die off.

  • Apple's 2019 Mac Pro is now three PCIe revisions behind

    Hi all,
    Just an amateur question.
Thunderbolt 3/4 is compatible to carry PCIe of what specification or lower at this moment?
The current Thunderbolt spec provides 40gb/s bandwidth.  While fast, it's still far below PCIe 3.0 max of 32GB/s.  I don't see a time where Thunderbolt will be at the same speed as the native PCIe bus.

The PCIe 6.0 specification I think will be geared more for servers than for consumer PC's.  It involves some pretty expensive tech, and motherboard fabrication to handle those high speeds which is why it will be limited to servers, render-farms, etc..
In other words, there’s nothing really wrong with the version Apple used in the 2019 Mac Pro. Apple didn’t put any devices in the Mac Pro that would economically benefit from PCIe 4/5/6 so author is complaining about nothing.
Pretty sure some MacPro buyers had upgradeability in mind. Then again, if they planned on upgrading, they should have known the limitations of the MacPro when they bought it.

  • Apple uses Messages colors to bully Android users, says Google

Google really shouldn't be one to talk. The list of proprietary messaging platforms that they've launched and abandoned is absurd. After half a dozen, they couldn't get it done right so just gave up and went to complain about how Apple nailed it on the first try.

  • SEC denies third Apple bid to block shareholder proposals

At the end of the day China forces Apple to go against their own values. Either Apple needs to update their shareholders of what the company values are ($$$) or abide by them and leave China (not gonna happen).
