Sog, I don't think this is a Cook policy but rather an Apple policy.  Remember Apple has a university of sorts, which is what codifies the corporate viewpoint and all senior level employees must go to it. This is to get everyone on the same page and avoid dilution of their culture.

should they disband the intensive level of privacy policies? I don't know. I do know that Apple tends to think further ahead than most organizations especially in terms of core beliefs about what constitutes ethical business practices.

your point is valid, that Apple is being left out of some avenues of technological research and it does have a lot to do with privacy policies. I'd sure like it if they could find a way to be a little more transparent about why they think this way. 

They will eventually encrypt the cloud contents because of this privacy concern, so again, I don't think this is on Tim, it's a corporate legacy.

You know what? I'm thinking Apple has a messaging problem when they are COMPLETELY LEFT OUT OF THE DISCUSSION in tech.
I mean, WTF?? The press, nearly all of it that I read-- and that's a lot of different kinds--they just ignore Apple like it was already dead and gone.

Perhaps this facility will put an end to Ming Kuo's leaks. I imagine it's a real concern overseas. If they prototype here it would be better.

Would changing their reporting format really help the stock? I'm not sure if anything can moderate the influences of Wall Street traders. Honestly, look, the stock has been lassoed and tied up in knots by hedge fund and high frequency trading. I bet they rely on AAPL positions to make their quotas, it is too easy to predict what will happen and too easy to make up a story that suits trading goals. Apple is a steady and predictable money maker. 

it might tank the stock if the rug is pulled out from under those traders, but I agree it might be time to find out. There would be some insane trading for a while, but no more insane than calling Xmas quarter sales "disappointing!!. Anybody reading here knows that Mr. Market decided sales were lacking BEFORE those quarters sales were reported. The meme is still there, that the stock won't recover until iPhone 7.

Easy fix? Take the company off of the public exchanges.

I would not be shocked if the stock tested the $92 low this summer. Until Apple proves they can grow earnings again the stock will be controlled by traders and weak hands.
