  • Twitter's text-based two-factor authentication becomes a paid-only feature

You should never just turn someone's MFA off without their explicit approval.
Usually I'm a "let the market decide" person rather than "regulate with new laws" person, but perhaps it should be illegal to go from 1FA to ZeroFA, so maybe it should also be illegal to go from 2FA to 1FA.
Sorry, just coming here to say that I find crazy that after all the horrible things the market has freely decided in the past century and the countless proof that regulation is what made everything better for consumers, people still say “let the market decide”. It can only be  brainwashing at this point. I don’t plan on starting a debate and won’t answer on this subject, but I really had to say it, it’s so nonsensical.

It could be good simply for scrolling.

  • Apple Fellow Phil Schiller quits Twitter

    LOL

I like Phil, but this little passive aggressive move is so lame.

I get that Apple execs (many of whom drive Teslas and hope to compete with a car of their own) dislike Musk for competitive reasons - and that he is a bit more of a Steve Jobs than Cook is, but this is just childish. Twitter finally has good leadership and is the same media outlet they knew and loved. Just use it like you do everything else.

I can just see these guys sweating through their withdrawals over a few days before deactivating and some moving to inferior services just because. Hilarious.
It's not passive aggressive and it’s not lame. If every person complaining about Twitter did the same, everyone would be happier.

  • Twitter Blue is dead, 'official' checkmarks resurrected

    mystigo said:
    • Also not clear is why Twitter didn't retain the blue checkmark for verified accounts, and implement a different color or shape for the paid subscriptions.
Right? Dead simple solution but Elon's crazed fever mind couldn't come up with it.
He couldn’t do that. He wanted to surf the wave of far right idiots who thought they were unfairly treated for not being able to get the blue check while “the elite” did. So he wanted everyone to be one the same level ; paying but still on the same level.

  • Apple has never been against advertising -- it's against invasive data collection

    paxman said:
I always have to laugh when people rage against advertising. If nobody advertised their goods how would you know what your options were, and as a producer of goods how would you let people know? Remember that branding is pretty much just advertising. In your face invasive advertising is terrible, I agree, and I understand that that is what people hate, but I just hate blanket statements devoid of nuance. As for Apple, I am paying top dollar for their products and service so they owe me the pleasure of no unsightly inappropriate ads.
As Foljs said, this is so naive.
You think you have more choice with ads when the opposite is true. One brand makes an ad, people buy that brand more just because they have seen it in TV and the BS ad somehow speaks to their emotions, and they don’t buy other brands. Other brands start doing ads and that leads to a polarization of sales with less varied products.
