Apple has never been against advertising -- it's against invasive data collection
Nobody likes ads.I wish Apple would make a web version of Apple Maps and finance it with ads. But we don’t want ads on our Apple devices. All of this is caused by only one thing, the absurd pursuit of continuous growth : Apple makes gigantic amounts of money but to please investors they always have to make more, so the next step is ads. And after that, what will it be? We already see how Google is automutilating itself with YT becoming almost unusable and their search engine working worse and worse. -

Apple Car project troubled by management demos and uncertain schedule
humbug1873 said:I still don't get that whole AppleCar thing, as in completely lack the phantasy on what Apple might put on the table that makes an Appley impact (like the Apple I, Mac, iPhone did at their time). Just another Tesla clone, with (obviously) way better UI and Carplay integration just doesn't cut it. Also true full self driving (not the crap that Tesla sells) is so far of - even from a legal framework, I doubt it. A 'insanely great' new mobility concept!? Nah.
So I don't get it. Also if Senior Leadership + CEO can't bother to get involved and the whole concept lacks the 'visionary' leader that twice made Apple great. So why waste all that money, as a stockholder I am pissed? For what result? Carplay v2!? Still don't get it. -
Apple Car project troubled by management demos and uncertain schedule
This project is hard. Apple needs to deliver a product that innovates, like all product they create. At the same time, it needs to be perfect from the start. With the watch for example, they could switch focus after one year or two, they won’t be able to do that with a car
The focus is clear : a self driving electric car. Anything less and people won’t be happy.Add to that the risk of having a product that doesn’t work and hurts people, you have a disaster on your hands.I’m confident Apple can make it but at the same time the state of their maps, inevitably related to the car, worries me a little. The frequency of regional updates is way too slow. France just got street imagery this week, when the first images were taken 7 YEARS ago. -
Apple's iPhone came out 18 years ago and changed the world
The amount of revisionism about how much the iPhone has changed things is increasing more than ever. People who have spent a decade hating on iPhones are now starting to recognize that it is indeed a very good product, but the idea that Apple didn’t really innovate that much with the iPhone is still present.Even new users who love iPhones often don’t realize how much phones sucked before. Not that anyone has to necessarily know the history of tech, but there is a lot of ignorance about what happened just 15 years ago.
I am thinking of doing a commentary of the iPhone keynote.
