  • India the latest country that may require Apple to shift to USB-C for the iPhone

Just no. Let's not complicate things until USB-C improves and standardizes.

other than the fact that guy is annoying in how we talks
all this is totally irrelevant when it comes to charging, which is the topic at hand
i don't care if the cable supports 4k video or not
i don't care if it supports 5gb or 20gb data transfer, or even no data transfer
i just want the same charger/cable to plug into all my devices and charge them, period

    i was recently on vacation
i had one HP 65w USB-C charger that charged my laptop (Microsoft surface laptop 3) work phone (Microsoft surface duo 2) iPad pro, and portable power pack
    all with zero issues

thing is, there is no technical reason why the iPhone doesn't use USB-C
its a business decision pure and simple, all for the royalties of the "Made for iPhone"
if USB-C was inferior why does apple use it for its  laptops and iPads?

  • European politicians on the cusp of requiring USB-C in all smartphones

what's the big deal? all macbooks use USB-c and some ipads use USB-c
no one forced apple to use USB-c on those, it was by choice
why can't all apple products use the same charging port???
the only reason they are against it is the money they earn on the "made for iphone" licensing
which they can't make if they use USB-c
it's not that its a better port or design

  • EU will force Apple & Google to allow third-party app stores, payment services

EU imposed its rules on Microsoft with windows media player
just like china imposes rules on apple to sell in china, I think iCloud has to be hosted in China for Chinese phones
Just like France had that headphone (or was it charger)  rule with iPhones
I think it should be a switch to allow side loading, if you turn it on, you get a message that your warranty will be voided,
If a sideloaded app somehow damages your phone, why should apple be financially liable ?

  • Apple takes majority share of U.S. headphone market, study finds

If only apple would support higher quality codecs like aptx hd or ldac

  • Senate Judiciary advances bill that would force Apple to allow iOS side-loading

Turn on side loading but have a prompt come up that if you side load an app, your warranty/apple care will be void/cancelled
and have the iOS send a message to apple to black list this device

you wanna run your own software on the iPhone, sure go ahead
but don't expect apple to foot the bill when your home made app damages the phone
    that sounds fair
