  • 2021 2nd-Generation Siri Remote Review: The star of the show

The Google TV remote, part of the US$50 deal of Chromecast, can control volume, on/off and other functions of hundreds of brands of AV and TV. Can Apple TV remote do it?
Maybe not, but it also won’t work to sell your viewing choices to the highest bidders. Apple TV may be “premium priced” (Apple margins), but there is also a reason why Chromecast and Fire devices are dirt cheap—your data is subsidizing the price. No thanks.

  • Florida governor signs bill to curb 'big tech censorship' of politics

I am old enough to remember when *real* Republicans had a strong libertarian leaning, a carryover from Goldwater first, then Reagan (to a lesser extent).

The surest sign that things have changed is the constant whining from self-identified Republicans that private enterprises are somehow interfering with First Amendment rights (complete with a total misinterpretation of the First Amendment), or otherwise seeking to silence voices. Somehow, we all mange to hear the complaint repeated at length, so “silencing” apparently isn’t very effective.

Once upon a time, the cries of entitlement were supposed to be the sole province of liberals. These days, though, the self-described Republicans are crying rivers over perceived slights. Goldwater wouldn’t know these folks at all. Reagan would be ashamed.

  • Report finds AirTag enables 'inexpensive, effective stalking'

Well everyone knows that exceptions disprove the rule, so let's all be a Chicken Little and assume the absolute very worst not only *can* happen, but definitely *will* happen.

Therefore we should all stay in our caves, being good luddites playing with rocks and sticks because that's the only way we'll stay safe and secure.
Play with sticks?!? Are you crazy? You could put someone’s eye out that way.

  • Rudy Giuliani says warrant illegal since agents already had data 'from the iCloud'

There is literally no reason for this to be an article on AI.  Because he used the term “iCloud” in his argument?   And the last three paragraphs of the article - general commentary on Apple’s work with government requests - have been covered, ad nauseam, in other pieces.

    Stay out of politics, please.
You read it.  If you don't like content like this then don't read it in future.  Some times the simplest solutions are the best ones.
Old joke: Old lady calls the cops, complains the guy next door is walking around his house naked. Cop shows up, look out her window. “I don’t see anyone.” “You can with these binoculars.”

  • 2021 Apple TV 4K versus 2017 Apple TV 4K - Who should buy the new model, and who should no...

It took a long time to get my wife to use ATV 4K box because she hated the remote. But she came around when she realized how much faster the ATV is in switching apps or cuing up a show, relative to the “smart” TVs the ATVs are connected to. The combination of the native memory (even the 32 meg) and the A12 Bionic processor makes for a much faster experience than using the smarts built into the TV.

With iPhone 12 devices we can stream the family videos we take directly via AirPlay, and the new box’s ability to show 60fps will be nice.
