  • Apple leaves the field in NFL Sunday Ticket negotiations

And it should come with the regular subscription price.
NFL Sunday Ticket is in the range of $17-22 PER WEEK currently. Offering that service within an Apple TV+ subscription would have been an absolutely bonkers deal for $6.99 PER MONTH. It's not really the type of thing you should expect at all.
Directv famously lost money on it’s exclusive for years, using the access to NFL ST as an attraction for subscribers, to boost total subscriber numbers and get same to also pay for HBO, RSNs, etc.

Apple has never been interested in losing money long-term on anything. An exclusive with NFL ST would certainly cause a price hike. Alternatively, it could be in-app subscription, but people who stream are already worn out by the sheer number and cost of programming options. Add in the fact this service may not have been available to show in UK, or India, or China, and it would have even less appeal to a global streaming platform.

  • Apple cancels 'Shantaram' after a single season

I understand the fact this has a cursed birth, between weather delays and the pandemic, but the time spent was worth it. I watched what I assumed to be the season finale last night and was looking forward to the next season of shows.

It is true the first few shows were a lot of tough exposition, with a Les Miserables-type plot overlaid in a foreign culture which required much explanation. But the depiction of the Sagar Wada slums and the gangster subculture made for an interesting framework of storytelling. And Charlie Hunnam was effortlessly charming and heroic as the prison escapee on the run.

I’m really sorry there won’t be an opportunity to continue the story.

  • Apple's Advanced Data Protection feature is here - what you need to know

Already confused. I was told in the setup screen to "print out your key" but given NO option to actually print.

    Um…

step 1—screenshot the passcode and save the screenshot to photos.

Step 2—print the screenshot and put it wherever you keep your sensitive documents.

Go ahead and delete the photo. That will get you through the hard part.

  • Apple's rumored Disney acquisition is 'pure speculation' says Bob Iger

Antitrust is an issue in M & A with large overlap in businesses—Two grocery chains with a combined 45% of a market following a combination of the companies would not pass muster. Apple buying Netflix would get a serious examination.

But aside from Apple’s very small ATV+ service and Disney+, there is very little overlap between the companies.

What they also lack is complementary features. Disney has little to no use for an electronics arm, and Apple has no use for theme parks and cruise ships. For that reason alone, the idea of Apple buying Disney is just too silly to believe. Even though Apple *could* make the purchase (with combination of shares and cash), it has no incentive to do so.

Just as with Netflix, Tesla, and the rest, there will always be some company a stock analyst says Apple MUST buy, and the supposition is always 100% wrong.

  • Apple will not buy Disney, no matter how often it hears that it will

Disney bought Pixar, Lucas, and Marvel as software/IP plays. It obviously has been massively successful for Disney, which lives and dies by its ability to create content.

None of the above applies to Apple. It doesn’t need Disney’s back catalog to be successful with ATV+. It couldn’t possibly be interested in running theme parks and cruise ships. Disney has a largely mature business which would diversify Apple, if that was something Apple needed. It simply doesn’t.
