Seriously Apple? You take away Gigabit Ethernet, only give two Thunderbolt/USB4 ports, and no Touch ID on the keyboard? These are the sorts of compromises you'd expect on the el cheapo version built for K-12, not for a consumer desktop. -

I wonder if it's USB or firewire to that port and if third parties could introduce a powerbrick with a full hub with some USB as well as ethernet connections. I could get A LOT of cables off my desk and under it with just one cable slinking it's way up to the Mac with such a power supply/hub combo. That would be a real improvement! -

If you want to use headphones, on the side is a huge improvement.
You can always get a 3.5mm right angle adapter to minimize what is sticking out if you do want to use with fixed speakers.
Bottom line - For most people this will be a significantly improved user experience.
