  • Apple issues eighth macOS 10.12 Sierra beta to developers, seventh to public testers

With eight or more developer releases and 7 or more public beta releases macOS Sierra bound to be completely stable by Golden Master. But that won’t stop the usual Debbie Downer crowd from declaring it the “absolute worst” os release in history, demanding it be pulled and fixed immediately, and wanting to be hand fed instructions for downgrading to System 7 /s. And you can take that to the bank.
I find it interesting that even update to OS X seems to be the "absolute worst" OS release in history.  There have been some problems with some, such as the WiFi problems with Leopard, but for the most part I have been quite happy with each new release.

  • Ford targeting 2021 launch for self-driving car, potentially going head to head with Apple

Ride sharing and ride hailing? Talk to any cab driver or Uber driver about what goes on in the back seat. Now imagine a driverless cab with no supervision. Unless there are continually monitored security cameras inside these vehicles I predict epic fail. Would you get into one when the last fare took a dump on the floor?
Talk to any cab driver or Uber driver and they will tell you that this sort of behaviour is extremely rare.  Still, you have a point.  The concept of personal transportation is deeply ingrained in most people.  Ford is going to have trouble overcoming that.

I would think of self-fueling and self maintaining first. Driving is a pleasure - not menace. If I want self-driving car I will take bus.
For the vast majority of people driving is a chore, not a pleasure.

And you can bet the farm that an Apple car will not be powered by hydrocarbon based fuel.
If it uses electricity, sure, it will be. Less of it compared to an ICE, but it's impossible not to be powered by fossil fuels.
Unless the electricity is generated by hydro, nuclear power, wind, solar energy, or any of the myriad of other non-fossil fuel technologies for making electrons dance in wires.
