  • Apple Stores suffering from 'cult' atmosphere, advancement barriers, says UK staffer

AI, show some journalistic integrity. Why are you repeating and publishing this absolute bullshit. An interview with one obviously disgruntled employee is absolutely meaningless. What the interviewer should have said is, "then why the FK don't you just go find another job?" Stupidity repeated is still stupidity.

  • VirnetX asks court to ban FaceTime and iMessage, add $190 million to patent payout

Something that stands out in Apple's response:
"Apple argued that in light of U.S. Patent and Trademark Office decisions rejecting the four patents-in-suit, an injunction would be inappropriate, as would any ongoing royalty based on FaceTime, iMessage and virtual private network on demand features."

That's the same essential argument Samsung made in the Apple/Samsung trial. No injunction or damages because of patent validity questions. Apple of course as we know vehemently argued that an injunction should be appropriate, just as VirnetSX does now, as should damages since the patents were valid at the time of the trial and still have not had a final FINAL ruling of invalidity.

...and of course several folks won't like the mention of Apple's defense strategy as it goes against what they've said in other courtrooms.
Come on gatorguy, you know full well how egregious Samsung's copying of every single feature of the iPhone was - down to the shape of the charger, and the design of the packaging including the typeface used. They should have been kicked clear back to Korea. Their own documents were the compelling evidence. Unfortunately the court (judge) severely limited Apple in their claims.

  • Google I/O 2016: Android deployment rate slips backward by 20 percent

It is NOT the same, because that S5 Samsung CANNOT be updated to the latest OS - which is precisely the point of this article: people aren't upgrading to the latest Android versions!

It would be similar if that 5s still sold today were only upgradeable to iOS 8 (though Android L was replaced by M six months earlier than iOS 9 was released).
But we can wager in the next few months that it will get the update to marshmallow. I would love to have a discussion about this. I acknowledge Apple is better at updates. I also don't see that large of a problem on Android. Security updates are independent and are released monthly. Most SDK hooks are in play services. It is a problem in reality Google has done a phenomenal job breaking things out of Android to bypass the OEM and carriers. Remember we are comparing apples to oranges. Apple has a vertical intergration this is one of the benefits to that. Google has an open intergration this is one of the downsides to it. No matter what we compromise. With Nexus I don't have to compromise software.
"With Nexus I don't have to compromise software." Really? Apparently you do have to "update security every month". Laughable.... No, sad.

  • I/O 2016: Google Allo smart messenger and Duo video calling coming to iOS, Android this summer

I don't see how these apps will gain any traction whatsoever.  I think most people are trying to use less messenger apps, not more...a billion daily users says that WhatsApp is the cross-platform messenger of choice.  If you're an iOS user, iMessage and WhatsApp is pretty much all you need to cover all platforms.
Except that whatsapp is a total piece of shit... Wechat is a far superior app
