Keyboards are like love interests: there’s no accounting for taste, and no arguing with it.

Of course if you’re a laptop user, then the built-in keyboard is what it is. Fortunately the one in my 2021 14” MBP is pretty good.

Not just weight, but also inertia. If you've ever held a 12.9" iPad in one hand and wiggled it around, you'll know what I mean. A 14.1" iPad would be that much worse. As others have said, the main usage would likely not be as a handheld.

Is there a decent market for such a device? Beats me — I find the 12.9" too big.

We have a Simply Mac store where I live and I've been glad of it. The nearest two Apple Stores are each about 100 miles away, so having a local Mac store, especially for repairs, has been useful. I've had both an iMac Pro and a 27" iMac repaired there — these are not models you want to be shipping if it can be avoided. As far as product sales go, our Simply Mac has certainly suffered from the two local Best Buy stores, which are also in better locations, and their Apple "store-within-a-store" setup.

The lack of dual external monitor support is very disappointing. Yeah, the MBA will drive a 6K screen, but who uses a $1500 laptop with a $6000 (including $1000 stand, thanks Apple) display? It’s a big jump in price, size and weight to the 14" MBP that’ll handle a pair of monitors.
