  • macOS 11.0.1 beta files hint at three unreleased Macs

I'm kind of holding out for the last gasp Intel based MacBook Pro, for personal reasons. Clearly, ASi is the way forward, I'm just not sure my personal workflow, such as it is, is ready t go there yet. Still we shall see what we shall see. I'd like to be surprised at the announcement about the capabilities of the ASi Macs, even to the point of being able to  jump straight in, but I'm expecting it to be another year before it's where I'm able to go ahead.

Still, an ASi Mac mini does fit my personal workflow, and I am ready and waiting for it. Maybe even an iMac depending specs and cost.

  • Unannounced 2020 16-inch MacBook Pro referenced in Boot Camp update

We are about due for an update to the 16" MBP, and presently orders from the Australian Apple Store don't deliver until about the 17th of November. Does sound like an update coming out around then.

I expect that, if there is an update, it will still be Intel, probably 10th Gen. I'd like to see it with a beefed up ARM co-processor (T3 at this point, I guess) to allow for development work on ASi based applications, but I'm not sure it will. I hope it will at least address the flaw in the T2 that was all over the press recently.

For the first ASi Mac, I'm holding out for a Mac mini to replace my current one, but who knows what they're planning.

  • Apple starts shipping the iPhone 12 -- but don't expect it to arrive early

Arrived about 4 hours ago. Took a while to transfer the settings from my old one.

    It's very nice.

  • Apple starts shipping the iPhone 12 -- but don't expect it to arrive early

My MagSafe charger is on it's way, but my Wallet isn't expected until next month.

The phone itself seems to be on track for Friday, but no word on whether it's shipped yet.

Fingers crossed there will be some updates on the AS Mac front. My ancient iMac is overdue for a replacement and I’m hoping for some sort of portable solution since my even more ancient MacBook Pro died.
Apple has previously promised the first Apple Silicon Mac would ship "before the end of the year."

Every other time that they have said that, in regards to the Mac, it means December. Who knows this year, though.
Well, that gives them at least 2 years* to ship an ASi Apple Mac.

    * Based on 2020 time
You think "before the end of the year" refers to the end of 2021? Can you explain that?
On June 22, Apple stated that the transition would take 2 years.
Note that Wgkrueger wrote 'an' not 'all'.

And that Mike wrote: Apple has previously promised the first Apple Silicon Mac would ship "before the end of the year."

See the reference to first Mac?

Your statement, on the other hand, is about how long it will take to complete, not when it when the first Si Mac for retail will ship.

    Edit:

If you still don't believe me, here's additional info to further back up mine and Mike's comments, here's what ArsTechnia took away from WWDC.

The key announcement was the timeline: The first Mac with Apple silicon will happen by the end of the year, with the whole Intel-to-ARM transition taking around 2 years. Expect to see new Intel-based macs come out in the near future.

Everyone seems to be investing in a lot of time analysing an obvious joke about how long and tortuous this year has been. That's why Wgkrueger said committing to having an Apple Silicon Mac out "before the end of the year" gives them 2 years, based on 2020 time, to actually do so.

Humour: It's always better when someone explains it!
