  • French iOS developers launch class action lawsuit over App Store fees

I believe Apple needs to stop messing around with these vultures and play hard ball. Give them some real uncomfortable options. Make it clear that based on their experience of nearly going bankrupt 20 years ago, they have a minimum profit margin they will accept on products to maintain them at a level appropriate and in accordance with our quality mandate.

We will discontinue any product or service that negatively breaches it’s set profit margin requirements. If we are forced to lower our App Store commission to levels we deem inappropriate we will be forced to makeup the margin another way. One way would be to significantly increase the price for developer accounts. $500 to $1000 per user seat per might be a part of the solution. Another source could be charging per API call. Providing a certain number of credits in a prepaid bundle.

Unfortunately, both of these solutions create unnecessary complexity and create a barrier to entry that was not previously there. Charging separately for billing and support services in another piece of the puzzle that can be broken out, as well as any marketing services for separate charges.

Of course this will benefit the big developers to a degree if they already have an accounting department to handle all of this extracurricular activity.

  • Apple warns developers it will pull apps without recent updates from the App Store

Ridiculous... I have an app that’s pretty much one of a kind and works really well. Hasn’t been updated in a while but why should it if it works?

Funny thing is, Apple always breaks a lot of things with their software updates .  iOS 15 has been a nightmare for HomeKit and especially Siri on the HomePod. That’s just one example.

No need to update for the sake of updating.
That last line is exactly what I say over and over again. I might be one of only a handful of people in the world that still uses Mojave but I like iTunes and would prefer to not give it up until I have to. I like my operating system the way it is and don’t need any changes.
There are a lot of hackers that love this stance. Apple makes changes that benefits their customers first. I’m certain they address quite a few issues behind the scenes as to not alert hackers to flaws that they can exploit when stubborn users refuse to update. Old apps can serve as an back door for hackers under the right circumstances.

Instead of developers complaining because they don’t understand the reason for a change, they should know that Apple doesn’t believe in wasting their resources for no reason. If they invested time and resources into a change, there is a reason and likely a reason that it would not be productive to broadcast.

  • Despite Thunderbolt, iPad to Mac communication is still a mess

Here is the difference between Apple and Google, Microsoft or even Facebook when it comes to allowing employees to work from home if they want to. The other companies are software companies that sometimes try to sell hardware. Apple is a hardware company first. Not having employees in person is a huge problem for them. It’s impossible to meet with another team down the hall to see if your current version of a glitch found during your last meeting when you plug an iPad into their Mac running software the other team is working on.

  • Kanye says he turned down $100M Apple Music offer & is now beefing with Apple

His music will be on Apple Music and Spotify in time...once he starts losing too much money and needs the sales he'll cave like everyone else does that holds out. Why people continue to do this I have no idea. I don't get why you just can't get your music out to as many people as possible. It would seem to me like you'd make way more fans and money by doing this than trying to get them to buy yet ANOTHER service just to listen to your music. Your music isn't any more special than the next artist.
It’s a publicly stunt. When you hear him saying crazy stuff. He has product on the way.

  • Kanye West won't release 'Donda 2' on 'oppressive' Apple Music or Spotify

"Listeners will have to buy a $200 Stem Player device to play the music digitally. West owns the Stem Player platform."

    It won't succeed.

I am really tired of singers, artists, and creatives protesting against those streaming companies when they SIGNED up knowing what they're getting.

In reality most artist did not signup for streaming it arrived after their contracts were signed so they are left in a position to be screwed over twice.
