  • iPadOS 15 confirms Apple's M1-equipped iPad Pro is a V8 engine powering a Ford Pinto

Apple already has an OS that solves these features and runs on the new iPad Pro - it's called Big Sur.   Big Sur already runs on the M1 processors, and supports multiple monitors, multitasking, and even runs iPad and iPhone apps.

It's policy that prevents OSX from running on the new iPad Pro.  Apple wants to keep the iPad locked down and secure.

    • Parallels Desktop 16.5 released with native Apple Silicon support

Conceptually, there is no reason why we can't run Windows 10 on Apple Silicon based Macs.

In the old days of PowerPC based macs, we had SoftPC and SoftWindows.  These software packages allowed one to run the Intel version of Windows, and Intel Windows software, on a non-intel Mac.   These product emulated the Intel architecture.

I think there is a market for virtualization software that runs on an Apple Silicon Mac, and emulates an Intel processor.

    • Apple increases credit for returning DTK to $500 following developer outcry

The problem with allowing developers to keep DTK is that Apple would need to support this unique hardware in future versions of the OS.  Various laws might require Apple to support and repair the hardware for 5 or more years.

By insisting that this leased hardware be returned (whether or not this is enforced), Apple has no obligation to support this unusual hardware.

    • Apple announces M1 as first Mac Apple Silicon chip

Perhaps I missed it.  But I did not see any mention of clock speed, or Windows compatibility.

I need to occasionally run Windows software.  I current use Parallels.   Will Apple Silicon based chips be able to run Parallels and Windows?

    • How to factory reset a MacBook Pro, and when to do it

Why should one waste time, logging out from accounts when the wipe makes sure that happens too?

It's not logging out of the account.  It is de-registering the computer.  You can have up to 5 computers registered to your iTunes account.  A computer stays registered, even if you wipe it clean.   The easiest way to de-register is from the registered computer.   That's not possible if you no longer have the computer.

The other alternative is to de-register all your computers, but Apple severely limits are often this can be done.

Thus, the best course of action is to de-register a computer before you wipe it clean.
