Apple accused of cashing in as UK battles phone theft surge
This is silly fear-mongering. It only takes a simple Google-search to show step-by-step how to lock down one's iPhone to prevent thieves from hijacking the phone and cloud services. Don't blame Apple for it. Users aren't taking the initiative to do it. It only takes 5 minutes to do it.I have my iPhone locked down for exactly this scenario. It's locked down to the point where it slightly inconveniences me to use the phone. I get that it's necessary and I'd rather it be that way than give the thief an opportunity to get into my phone. That's just where it's at. Apple has to balance on a fine line to allow the owner to easily use their phone, yet provide abilities to prevent any unauthorized use.I don't ever want my phone stolen, but if it is the thief will not be able to get into it to do anything and thus will be just a parts-phone. -
Qualcomm study unsurprisingly says Qualcomm modems beat Apple's C1
johnwhite1001 said:Qualcomm have always been the best modems. Very disappointing that Apple is trying to incorporate inferior technology in iPhone. Apple always has to try and save a few cents - and yet still charge the highest price for a product.Apple and Qualcomm have had a very tense relationship for many years along with very expensive lawsuits. QC tried extorting Apple. Apple jettisoned QC like a bad habit and QC rightfully deserved it.Apple's own modem is just their v1.0 release. It's only going to get better while QC's revenue stream will take a major hit (like Intel) when Apple is completely off their chips. -
