  • YouTuber builds his own Studio Display by upcycling an old iMac

Way too much trouble. I still
have 5 k iMac and use it. Also just got The studio monitor.

    It’s not the same…
Having disassembled quite a few iMacs in my time, it's not that much trouble.  The last iMac I worked on, I was able to completely disassemble it and reassemble it in 45 minutes.

I would seriously consider doing this if I came across a good donor iMac.

  • Second man sentenced for million-dollar fake iPhone return scheme

How is paying the $577,780 restitution enforced? Is this one of those situations where it looks good on paper but will actually never happen?

Years ago a neighbor of mine resisted arrest, ran from the cops and was tackled onto the hood of my car. The hood was scratched up pretty badly. My neighbor was deemed the responsible party and ordered to pay for the repair. He had less money than he needed to get by, was constantly leaning on others and I never got a dime.

Because of that I’m always curious about how payments like these ever happen, if they even do.
A CEO friend of mine discovered his CFO embezzled $1 million.  Got caught, arrested, jailed for three years and ordered to pay back that $1 million.  That money was spent on lavish trips, escorts, etc..

That was 15 years ago.  My last conversation with him, he said he gets maybe $10-$15 month, sometimes nothing at all for months.  He expects to never see that money again.  That’s how it works.

And the ex-CFO?  With no job, his high-priced wife divorced him, no real job prospects, he vanished.  Rumor has it he fled to the Philippines to start new under an assumed name.

The system favors the criminal.  How can one be ordered to pay back money if there’s no money?

  • Apple Studio Display only starts at $1599, and can easily climb to $2458

$1,599 considering what one gets for this display is not that bad a deal.

I own three of Apple's 27" Thunderbolt monitor for my two iMacs and still use them to this day.  Those brand new costed $999 back in the day.  Currently, LG's 5K display is running $1,299 and I'll gladly pay the premium for Apple's offerings and support compared to LG's plastic ugliness.

Not sure what people are complaining about.  It's a 5K monitor and priced appropriated for what one gets.  Sure, I'd love it to be the $999 price that my current thunderbolt monitors were priced, but everything is expensive now.

I'm just glad Apple finally came out with updated monitors.  When it's time to upgrade my monitors, Apple-branded monitors are the only ones I use.  They just last forever.

  • Wanton in-app purchases cost Alberta father thousands of dollars

In-app purchases like these is the cancer of the app-store.  I have a true hatred for them.  I've tried a few and they were so in-your face and could not advance any further into the game without them that it just spoiled the entire experience.  I've abandoned them.

I would much rather have a trial game, then if I like it I would GLADLY pay a fair sum ($19.99?) for a game that will keep me entertained for hours/days/months.  In-app purchases are just scams as far as I'm concerned and Apple really should do something about this.  It's a part of the App Store I really hate.

  • Samsung is throttling the performance of over 10,000 apps

The way iKnockoff companies like Scamscum get away with this is disgusting.  If this were Apple, guaranteed that the the botomfeeding lawyers, media, and iHaters would be screaming for Tim Cook's head, and clickbait YouTubers would fill the Internet with countless videos on how Apple is a "greedy" company and ripping off users.
