  • Epic Games insists that Apple flouted its App Store anti-steering injunction

File this under “Be careful what you wish for”.
If Epics claim is true, then where are the amicus briefs of the other developers who were “hurt” by Apple’s implementation of the judge’s order?  Where is Spotify?

The truth is more likely that the developers who were amicable to the new process, backed out when they saw the overhead to maintain a separate payment system and the accounting of everything.

  • Microsoft blew $8.5 billion on Skype only to spend 14 years killing it

It would be like saying that Apple ‘blew’ $3B to buy Drew's company… to build up Apple Music streaming service.
Well they kinda did. Beats hardware at the time was overpriced for what you were getting and Apple only wanted the streaming service. The headphones were more of a fashion statement like the AirPods Max. They had way too many lines of them and they were designed with a lot of little weights to make them feel like a quality product when they weren’t.  Most of the talent from Beats still works for Apple and now they’re making much better hardware compared to before Apple bought them.

  • iPhone 16e review roundup: an okay, if compromised, device without a market

The 16e is really for people who want an iPhone, but don’t want to spend $800. Sure for $200 more you can get a better iPhone, but there are plenty of people who don’t want a 16 and would rather get a 14 or 15 just because of the price. They don’t care about the multiple cameras, they don’t care about MagSafe because usually many of them are coming from an iPhone 11 or OLDER. The old SE was tired in terms of features and my friends who work at an Apple Store have said that the SE was usually sold to the elderly who wanted or had to upgrade. So Apple wasn’t moving a lot of these anyway. At least not in the US.

  • Apple's C1 modem is the first step towards 'a platform for generations,' executives say

No one would have thought the current modem was a one-off.

They are simply stating the obvious.

Every modem maker could say the same.

The real message is probably, 'don't expect too much from this product in comparison to others already out there'.
The better battery life is a really good start. That could help by not needing large batteries like they do with Qualcomm chips. This gives more credence to an iPhone air.

  • Apple's Siri renovation is probably going to take longer than expected

I am shocked... SHOCKED, I say! Who woulda thunk that after 15 years of Siri idiocy under Apple, Apple wasn't going to be able to fix it in 10 months? The WWDC announcement last year always seemed suspect--it was like we were being told that Siri, essentially held back in about third grade for the past decade and a half, was suddenly going to have a PhD by next April. Sounds like maybe not.
You would be even more shocked that Apple has been working on this for at least 3 years and not 10 months.
