  • Peloton's original bike price drops $400 after poor earning results

Looks like they don’t have a captive audience anymore. People can leave their house and use a regular bike now.

  • Fed expansion of Apple's CSAM system barred by 4th Amendment, Corellium exec says

Shocking how many people do not want this feature and seem keen to protect the rights of pedophiles  :#
Replace pedophiles with terrorists and you have practically the same argument Apple was against when the FBI wanted Apple to install a back door on their products.

The problem I see is the net that is cast to catch relatively few pedophiles or other criminals. They will hide how they commit their crimes and will not use iCloud or even their photos app to store the incriminating evidence. They use apps like WhatsApp and other 3rd party apps to commit their crimes.  Meanwhile there is the risk to mislabel people who have innocent pictures as suspects and that’s not Apple’s job. Just like it’s not Apple’s job to police if someone steals your device and wants service. As long as FMI is off they don’t care and they don’t want to get involved. Now with this, they are.

Law enforcement should be the ones responsible for this, not manufactures of electronic devices. Apple is not the police.

Didn’t the NSA violate the 4th amendment when it was caught spying on American citizens who were not suspects of committing terrorism?

I’m sure that patronising attempt to help the judge reach her decision will go down well.
It's not "patronizing" in a legal case because the parties are obligated to put everything on-the-record in the event of any appeal.

If you want to talk about legal stuff, go to law school first.
I appreciate your comment. So many people here and places like 9to5 comment about things they know nothing about, but wish to present themselves as experts or highly experienced attorneys with practices focused on the subject at hand. In reality, they are responding with emotional based fanboism and know nothing about the legal aspects of the topic. When you do have some direct experience and read this stuff you want to slap them (not literally) upside the head and let them know they may be fooling themselves, but not you.

In this case, Mr. Lizard is a pretty good example of it. He also spells patronizing with an "s" instead of a "z" indicating he is educated somewhere other than the US and probably a resident/citizen of the UK or Australia  or some other place where the Queen's grammar rules. That makes it highly unlikely he knows anything about the the US courts or the subject other than the articles his fanboism leads him to read. To sum it up, he probably doesn't know squat about this and his comment about the Judge reflects the ignorance and a lack of respect for the law and court system.
I think you hit the nail on the head for the modern internet. We now have all these so-called "internet experts" or everything is a conspiracy of "big government" that finding intelligent logical dialog becomes muddled with garbage and even banter derails into nonsense.
There are NO experts commenting on any tech blogs anywhere, especially Apple blogs that are dominated by fanboys, haters, shills, and paid trolls. Actual experts wouldn’t have the time or inclination to post on a blog like AppleInsider, MacRumors, 9to5 Mac, etc. The anonymity of the internet allows anyone to present themself as an expert on a topic.

The reverse of the old cliche is the real truth. Almost NOTHING you read on the internet is true. Most of what you read on the internet is complete bullshit..
Only 4 types of posters porcupine?
    Which one are you?

I think some people take these forums too
seriously. They are for people’s OPINIONS, and not for taking as gospel. If you want facts please do your own fucking research.

In the manner of Apple requesting that the Judge contemplate the NAACP case, it doesn’t come off as patronizing if Apple asks the judge to consider it. Why? Because the judge in her ruling will answer specifically why she does or does not agree with comparing this case with the other.

DISCLAIMER:  I am NOT a lawyer, but have participated in many lawsuits and this is my OPINION.

    Happy now Larry?

  • Apple Watch and staying alive - a reluctant wearer's conversion

Glad to hear you’re fine Mike. Dr’s sometimes can seem to overreact to signs or hunches that you might have an issue. They’d rather be wrong, then right and you sick or worse. I had a similar issue about 12 years ago. I had my family Dr. perform an ECG as a routine check. He was concerned after the test about my “Q” wave being abnormal and I should go see a cardiologist and get it checked out.

What the hell is a Q wave I thought? So I did the worst thing and looked it up online where I found out an abnormal Q wave is usually caused by a genetic disorder and could result in nothing or sudden death. Sudden death? Wtf? I thought that was a term only used in sports? For weeks I was terrified, and I had made an appointment with one of the best cardiologists in the state later on in the month.

Well, after a few weeks I ended up having to go to the ER, not because of my Q wave, but because of my addiction to espressos and I had 3 shots within 30 minutes and felt like I was having a heart attack. The paramedics came, were worried about my heart rate and took me to the hospital.

At the hospital, they hooked me up to a bunch of machines to monitor my heart, and ran a bunch of tests.  The funniest part was when the ER Dr. asked me, “Do you do cocaine?”  “What?!  No!, Why would you ask me that?” I replied. “Because I can’t find anything wrong with your heart.”
I told him that I drank a lot of espresso and was probably dehydrated and he replied, “That would make you feel like you’re having a heart attack, so lay off the coffee for awhile.”
The kicker was when I asked him about the abnormal Q wave my Dr. said I had he replied “Nah, your Q wave is normal, they hooked you up wrong.” He then showed me on the little
    receipt paper it prints out.

I’ve had the original Apple watch and now the series 4. I think the breathe app will do more for you as a start, than you miraculously start using the fitness app and running 20 miles a day. It’s a good place to start and who knows, you might start logging in those time to walk workouts.
