  • Everything Apple Sherlocked in macOS Ventura, iOS 16, and iPadOS 16

The touchbar is one of Apple’s products that they never really had much faith in. When you look at them in the Apple stores, most employees don’t know that much of what you could do with it. From that perspective, it’s clear that Apple didn’t want to spend a lot of time training their employees on how to really get good usage out of it.

  • Tim Cook says return to office work plan is 'the mother of all experiments'

I think by having another pre-recorded keynote, Tim isn’t sure it’s safe enough yet either.

  • Apple to increase starting pay for hourly workers to $22 per hour

Dang. That's some amazing money for retail.
I was making about US$8/hr in the mid 80s, directly after earning my degree in computer science. Since the dollar was worth about 3x as much then as it is now, that's the same effective salary as I was making. No degree needed anymore. Nice work if you can get it.

What did you do with your Computer Science degree? Sell Lemonade?  Because the most Computer Science advancements were actually in the 80s, including the Operating System you are currently using.  The rest are just blocks added to the fundamental.
Yeah that sounds pretty low for someone with a degree. I was making $6/hr working in a movie theater.

  • Apple rumored to be cutting iPhone SE orders following weak demand

One theory they could have cut production is to re-allocate resources to make iPads since they cut production of those to help boost production of the 13 Pro and Pro Max. This is the main reason why you couldn’t get an iPad mini, air, or 9th gen iPad last year.

  • All the Homekit locks that support Apple Home Key

This is a great feature I’m very excited to add to my home. But with all these options I just can’t decide what to buy!
    😂

With only 2 locks presented here and one of them isn’t available in the US, it seems that this article was premature.

I was going to wait to replace my lock with a homekey supported lock, but since there was hardly any info online on who had one ready to ship, I ended up getting an august lock.
Not bad, but you need really strong wifi where you put it, otherwise you’ll go thru batteries in a couple months and get countless alerts that your lock has lost its wifi connection.
